KG PE Swimming Lessons

Dear GIS parents,

Our Students from KG1 - G3 will start Swimming in certain PE Lessons as of Sunday 12
th
October
(Day 8 in our cycle). This format for PE lessons will run for 7 weeks until the 28
th
of November
and then we will resume this again around the beginning of February. For this period KG
students will now have 2 swimming lessons and 2 PE lessons and G1-3 students will have 1
swimming lesson and 2 PE lessons during the 8 day cycle. Please see the timetable for all classes
on page 2.

Within these lessons our main focus will be on water safety and water confidence. For those
students with more swimming experience we will also be focusing on stroke technique, body
position and breathing techniques.

Please see a list below of what your child must bring with them to school for their swimming
lessons:

Goggles
Swimsuit (girls one piece swimsuit please)
Towel
Sandals / flip flops
Plastic Bag for wet items
Dressing Gown some students may wish this to wear from changing to poolside
Swim Cap we would recommend that all students bring a swim cap, especially girls as this protects
hair and also allows for quicker changing as there is no wet hair at the end of the lesson

Please remember to label all swimming costumes and towels, so that we can return any lost
items.

It is very important to keep PE Staff informed of any health problems or health conditions. Students
need to bring a written note from a doctor to inform their PE teacher if they are unable to participate
in swimming. Otherwise, if a child is in school, they should be well enough to participate in swimming.
