Reflection from prior lesson: Discussed the lesson plan format and went through cabinet up in
Field House.

Lesson Goal(s) / Standards:
Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skill and movement patterns to perform a
variety of physical activities.

Lesson Objectives: By the end of the lesson the students will be able to walk, run, skip, gallop,
and hop with the correct form and proper technique.

Materials Needed: To teach this lesson we will need: 5 Jump ropes. 10- 15 Medium sized cones.
(8 inch ). 15-20 Hockey sticks.

Contextual Factors/ Learner Characteristics: Participants in Toddler Gym are 3-5 year-old
children, boys and girls. Basic locomotors skills of walking and running are assumed to be at the
control or utilization level, whereas more complex skills like skipping are anticipated to be at the
pre-control level.

A. The Lesson

1. Introduction (include time allotment) (5 mins)

o Blow whistle and then verbal commands.

o How could I get from right here to over by the water fountain? Other than
walking.

o Why would we want to run or walk, or gallop? Does anyone know how to gallop
or run?

o Today we are going learn how to properly walk, run, gallop, skip, leaps, and
sliding.


2. Content Delivery (include time allotment & instructional methodologies) (40 mins)
a. Activity: Stations for each teacher. Total of three stations.
b. Station 1: Walking in straight lines. Station 2: Walking in a zig-zag pattern. Station 3:
Walking in Curvy pattern.

c. Repeat this for running, skipping, hopping, and galloping.

Each station will be 2-3 minutes long, roughly 7-10 minutes per cycle.

d. End with game of tag using different forms of motor skills.
e. Cool down


3. Closure (include time allotment) (5 mins)
a. What ways of moving did we learn today? When you are outside playing practice
these movements and keep working at them.

B. Assessments Used
Formative and summative assessments will be used during and after the class period.


C. Differentiated Instruction
If a student is struggling with the drills we are trying to teach we may modify for them.
Also if the student is at a higher proficiency level than the other students we will challenge them
at the appropriate time.
