5-Year Technology Plan

The use of Technology in a Physical Education setting is becoming more readily
available. By increasing technology in the gym, the PE teachers will be able to serve their
students more effectively and provide higher quality experiences. I am providing a 5-year
Technology Plan that will take our PE department to a higher level of efficiency and quality
through the newest and most effective technologies.
This plan will evaluate and inventory the current technology available and used within the
PE department. Recommendations on whether to keep or remove the technologies will be
made.
This plan is designed to take the technology currently available to the PE teachers and
over a 5-year period add new technologies to build a group of resources that positively
affects both teacher and students for years to come. The plan has 4 main objectives. The
first is to increase the ability to evaluate and quickly improve students skills and techniques.
The second objective seeks to improve small group interaction and instruction. The third is
to increase the ability to monitor and track students skill and health levels, as well as, their
improvements over the short and long term. The last objective looks to motivate students to
live a healthy lifestyle through fitness in and out of the school setting.
Each new technology will be listed with a justification for it use in the gym. Quantity and
cost will also be included, along with the source from which the technology can be
purchased. Technology purchases will be divided into 5 years based on importance to best
meet the plans objectives.
