School Vision

The shift from a teacher-centered traditional setting to a more student-centered environment will
require many teachers to learn new ways to deliver instruction. Implementing new technology
strategies into the classroom will change the dynamics of the school environment. The role the
teacher plays in facilitating this change will be vital to the long term success of a good
technology program. Therefore, my job as an instructional coach will be to provide teachers with
the tools and knowledge they need to be successful in the classroom.
In the future, I believe technology is going to transform the way we support and communicate
information to students. Instead of taking on a passive role of receiving information from the
teacher, students will become active participants in their own learning. Allowing students the
opportunity to work on authentic, and meaningful real world problems is best provided when
technology is used in the classroom. Consequently, when students are allowed to collaborate and
collect data this this often motivates students to do their best learning. However, before
technology can be used effectively at Park Street we must ensure that technology will support the
educational goals set for students. A clear set of goals, expectations, and criteria for the use of
technology should be developed. After we develop these goals, the next step will be to design
classes that are responsive to the students needs and that also align with the achievement goals
of the district.
As a technology coach, I believe that in order to have an effective technology program it must be
integrated into the curriculum. Ultimately this means that teachers would be required to
implement technology standards into all of their daily lessons. The second part of the plan to
fully integrate technology into the school would be to provide teachers with both in-service and
pre-service training, to ensure they are comfortable with implementing technology into their
classroom. My vision for technology integration would also include providing time for teachers
to plan and collaborate during the course of the school day.
Research has shown that technology can be used to develop students higher order thinking skills,
increase student motivation, and improve student achievement. Therefore, as a technology coach
I will work with administration to provide meaningful well developed technology experiences
for our students.
