Intro
1. How did this video load for you?
Hopefully a just a few seconds of
buffering, and you were on your way.

2. After ten seconds of loading,
were you considering exiting the tab?
Believe me, youre not the first one.
People want cat pictures, and they
want them now.

3. But how did we get here? On
August sixth, 1991, the World Wide
Web was publically released to the
world.

4. The Internet speed during
1991 was about .028 mbps, which
would take an 851 KB (kilobyte) cat
picture 51 seconds to download.

5. What are all these fancy
terms?

6. One thousand Kilobytes
equals one Megabyte, and 1000
megabytes equals a gigabyte. Our
very own schools Internet speed, with
copper wire, is about 5mbps.

7. Google fiber is about 1000
mbps, which is 200x, our amount with
copper.

8. We pinned our own Internet
against Googles Fiber and we
downloaded 100 Pictures.

9. Google Fiber took 3 seconds
whilst we took 9 minutes and 20
seconds. Its a clear difference.
10. Weve spent some time talking
about how slow the Internet is right

9. Comcast exec saying wow. Thats
fast and a snail with a jetpack on its back.

10. Board meeting with the internet in
the middle

now, but how can we fix it?

11. Well, in the USA Internet is
provided by (appropriately named)
Internet Service providers or ISPs

12. These ISPs have little to no
reason to upgrade their current
networks to fiber optic.

13. Its not a money issue, as
providers such as AT&T made
around 3.5 BILLION last year.

14. Just how much are we looking
at? Around $52,000 per square mile
of fiber.

15. It does sound a little costly,
because it is. but ISPs have the
money. Lets not forget that this isnt
just out of AT&Ts pockets,

16. But out of ALL of the providers
using the fiber as well. Lets be
honest. Why would businesses build
this network when they wont see any
profit?

17. Well, people will be willing to
pay for faster speeds.

18. Wouldnt you if it meant
skyping in crystal clear quality without
any breakup,

19. Instant YouTube buffering, and
more?

20. In conclusion, implementation
of fiber optic internet would greatly
benefit schools, households, and
businesses alike

21. , Give us speeds up to 200
TIMES faster than current speeds,
