Overpopulation remains the leading driver of hunger, desertification, species depletion and a range of social maladies across

the planet. over generations the growth rate increases more and more rapidly, similar to a snowball affect.
Overpopulation is when the number of people can not be permanently maintained without depleting resources
and without degrading the environment and the people's standard of living.
Nature is a balance of existence. In order to coincide with nature, we must balance the number of lives which we
produce with the saving and extending of lives. We mustn't use resources any faster than they can be reproduced.
We need to respect ourselves by learning to respect the environment which we rely upon for our own existence. If
not, we will cease to exist.
It is time to realize that there is a tradeoff between "quality of life" and "quantity of life." In a planet with limited resources --
sustainable growth is an oxymoron. There is much we can do to reduce the suffering caused by human population growth.
But recognizing that overpopulation is a perilous problem constitutes a critical first step.
And it is not only nature that is affected by a fast-growing population. A high birthrate means a struggle to keep up with traffic problems, enough
schools to educate kids and enough parks for them to play in. It means more unrest and racism as more people compete for jobs. It means more
wars, as countries need more resources to provide for their citizenry. It means a lower quality of life for all.
The rapid rise in populations also tends to sabotage basic social services: schools are crowded, medical care overwhelmed,
the legal system backed up, transportation gridlock unbearable and accessible housing inadequate. Infrastructure has a very
hard keeping up with relentless growth. overpopulation is not just about food shortages and human suffering. Ecologists
explain that the collapse in global biodiversity is also linked to overpopulation.
Their misery should teach a sobering lesson about insouciant disregard for the balance between human numbers and natural
resources. Uncontrolled human fertility led to a depletion of the land's fertility.
