This artifact is a sample daily schedule. I created this schedule as an assignment for my Administrations and Family Relations in Early Childhood class. I completed this during my Spring Semester.
Alignment:
Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment:
This experience best aligns with Standard 5: Learning Environment- The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation.
This best aligns with Standard 5 because this daily schedule represents theoretical time allotments for classes and time of instruction, all of the content ideas and plans would be implemented during my times of instruction and community building in any classroom I may have in the future. I believe community building in a classroom with peers is imperative, as it also encourages social interaction and group motivation amongst the class. There are many activities I personally created that I would implement to introduce instructional times in the classroom which promote engagement amongst our classroom community.
I am more competent relative to this standard as a result of creating this daily classroom schedule because I created a schedule friendly to a students needs, but that could also immerse and engage them with their peers and what was going on in the classroom. It was also a chance to create activities that would bring my classroom together as a whole, encouraging each other in all aspects.
UW-Platteville Knowledge, Skill and Disposition Alignment
This experience best aligns with KSD2.b.-Establishes a Culture for Learning- The candidate can create a classroom environment that established and maintains high expectations for all students to value content of course work, take pride in work by initiating improvements, and help peers.
The experience of creating this daily schedule and the most specific contents allowed me to make my schedule to be engaging, encouraging, thoughtful, meaningful, responsible and comfortable. All the activities outlined in my daily schedule are meant to be engaging for students, helping peers and building a community amongst the whole class and working together to learn as much as they can. As I created this classroom daily schedule, I understood that the students need to become engaged and motivated to learn and work together, because I was able to reflect on my own learning experiences and the things my past teachers did to engage their students and get us excited about our day full of learning. The importance of this realization has made me aware of just how important the learning environment is just as much as the content or subjects being taught.
I am more competent after this experience because I understand the principles of the effective classroom management within a daily schedule. I can use a range of strategies to promote positive relationship, cooperation, and purposeful learning in the classroom.

Reflection
What I learned about teaching/learning from this experience:
What I learned most in creating a daily schedule for how my future classroom may be conducted is the importance of keeping students engaged. In creating interactive, meaningful transitions, anticipatory activities and content specific instructional activities, my students will learn to become a community, encourage one another, learn meaningfully from contextual instruction and stay motivated to learn. In creating this daily schedule, and realizing some very realistic blocks of time dedicated to specific content areas, I understood how important it is for my students to learn in a comfortable, warm welcoming, non-judgmental environment, and that such a place would only stimulate their desire to continue learning.
What I learned about myself as a prospective educator as a result of this experience:
What I learned about myself as a prospective educator in creating a daily schedule for students is the level of engagement of the environment; including my students thoughts and ideas into every discussion and area of study each and every day. Creating an engaging environment that is encouraging and understanding of everyone involved, will only promote better learning and comprehension and create eager learners.
