Community Service Time Guidelines

Hypertherm is committed to making a difference by actively participating in, and contributing to, our
community. By investing your time, you contribute toward improving the lives of people in the
communities where you live and work. And in helping others, you are also helping yourself.
Volunteering time in community service activities leads to a feeling of purpose and accomplishment
and also provides a fresh perspective on the way we live our lives. Hypertherms paid Community
Service Time (CST) is intended to make a positive change in your life and the lives of others.
Associates will be paid for up to two days per year (16 hours) for Community Service Time
(CST).
CST may be taken in no less than 1 hour increments. Up to 8 hours of Community Service
Time can be taken in a given day.
CST is meant to support non-profits and our philanthropic areas of focus including education,
environment, health and social service organizations.
Not included are programs that have a political/religious focus and/or those that do not
comply with Hypertherms policy of non-discrimination.
CST cannot be used to help individuals, family or other such causes. CST is designed to
support a non-profit entity.
You will need to seek approval in advance from your direct leader for use of CST. Your leader
will then forward your request to HR for tracking purposes.
CST is tracked, in the US, in the Kronos system; you need to enter your CST in Kronos. This
is important so that we can track our CST utilization rates from year to year.
Unused CST may not be carried over to the following year.
CST is to be used during the regular work week hours. Exceptions to this include
Hypertherm sponsored weekend events. For those weekend events, associates can take paid
time off in that same work week for the time that was donated to the weekend event. As
with other CST, this needs to be approved in advance with your direct leader.
For second and third shift associates doing CST during your scheduled work day, you may
take your evening shift as paid time off.
Upon completion of CST, you are encouraged to provide a reflection of your experience for
publication in HyLights. Sharing your stories inspires others to use their CST.
Participation in an activity that raises money for a qualified charitable organization.
Community Service Time is paid work time by Hypertherm you are representing the
company during this time used.
