Excerpt from Professor Garr's Letter to SUNY

I am a retired Nursing Professor from Monroe Community College currently living in

Florida. I am very concerned about the process that is being followed during the
current Presidential search. As a former chair of the Special Committee on
Administrative Affairs (SCAA) and 2 term president of the Faculty Senate, I
believe I have insight into the process.

Although I am retired, I still have very close ties to MCC and yearly award the
Jane L. Garr Nursing Scholarship which I started and which is endowed. I give
generously to MCC yearly and they are included in my will.

Mr. Parinello is only 1 board member and should not have the right to add 2
candidates to the list, both of whom had been rejected by SCAA and the Board
Search Committee. MCC Faculty, Staff, and students have had an excellent
relationship with the Board of Trustees in the past and I am very disappointed
that the current Board obviously has no respect for them now.

A college of the stature of MCC needs a President who has been involved in
education at he highest levels and not a restaurant owner or politician both of
whom know very little about the education policies of a community college.

If the Board appoints either of these candidates, I would hope you would intercede
and reject their decision in order to preserve the educational integrity and
excellence of MCC.
