Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education preservice teachers can be expected to display interest in teaching as a career, awareness of
personal relations in teaching and an inquiring attitude to teaching and learning. There are three domains, Professional Knowledge,
Professional Practice and Professional Engagement alongside seven core standards that we ask you to reflect and write upon when
providing feedback to preservice teachers. The criteria in the report are derived from the Australian Institute for Teaching and School
Leadership (AITSL) National Graduate Teacher Standards. A copy of the Standards can be found at
http://www.aitsl.edu.au/verve/_resources/Accreditation_of_initial_teacher_education_file.pdf.
This report should be completed in consultation with the preservice teacher and other relevant colleagues. A brief comment for each main
Standard will be sufficient. Mentor teachers are encouraged to describe specific achievements, identify areas of concern and make
recommendations for future development.
Preservice teachers are expected to keep a journal containing reflections, evaluations and thoughts about this Project Partnership work.
These become examples and evidence of how they meet each of the seven core standards of teaching. This evidence should be shared
with the mentor teacher prior to the completion of this report.

manner at all times and has been a welcome addition to the classroom environment. It has been an absolute pleasure to mentor Daniel throughout this practicum period
and I strongly believe he will have a very successful career within the education industry.
PRESERVICE TEACHER'S REFLECTIVE RESPONSE
I completed my two teaching blocks at Carranballac P-9 College, Jamieson Way Campus with my mentor teacher being Chris Johns. Across the time in grade 5/6 I
believe that I grew in confidence each day due to the experience I received through my constant exposure to teaching. I am secondary Physical Education and Health
trained and even though I had doubts about teaching younger students in a generalist setting, I would be better for it in the long run due to the challenges I was faced
with every day in the classroom. Moving out of my comfort zone was definitely a bit overwhelming at first but what I have gained from my experience with Chris and the
students will be forever invaluable to my future teaching endeavours. Theres no doubt that I learnt most about teaching and the type of teacher I am through standing
and delivering in front of a class. I believe that my classroom management has improved and also my delivery of content. Even though I have plenty to work on, this will
advance my experience. The most rewarding part for my time in grade 5/6 was the relationships I built with students and fellow teachers. As a teacher the relationships
you form with the people around you makes working and teaching much more effective, especially in the development of students. Two other important things I took out
of my teaching rounds was managing time and being organised.
