INTRODUCTORY RITES

Commentator : The sacrament of matrimony, though it begins with love of
man and woman, has always a greater social dimension
whereby Gods love is felt and recognized. We are gathered
today to celebrate love. This Eucharistic Sacrifice of the
Mass is an act of love and thanksgiving, as we witness the
exchange of vows of Joel & Joanne Grace. Thus, binding
themselves together in Holy Matrimony.

Let us all be seated for the processional.

ENTOURAGE PROCESSIONAL

ENTRANCE RITE

Commentator : Please all rise as we sing the entrance hymn.

Choir : ENTRANCE HYMN

Celebrant : In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.

All : Amen.

Celebrant : The grace of the Lord J esus Christ and the love of God, our
Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

All : And with your spirit.

PENITENTIAL RITE

Celebrant : Dearly beloved J oel & Joanne Grace, God is love and has
mysterious way drawn you together in love. But he leaves
you free to make that love grow or to let it wither and die.

3

December 20, 2014 Saint A nthonyof Padua Parish, I riga City
The Lord will help you to forge a future for your love, if
you do your share, when you stand to the commitment to
love and honor one another in good times and bad, in pov-
erty and plenty, in sickness and in health, for better or
worse, in that covenant which you are about to seal. Now,
my brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate
the sacred mysteries, let us call to mind our sins.

(Brief silence)

All : I confess to Almighty God and to you my brothers and sis-
ters that I have sinned through my own faults, in my
thoughts in my words, in what I have done, and in what I
have failed to do. And I ask the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints, and to you my brothers and sis-
ters to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Celebrant : May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins
and bring us to everlasting life.

All : Amen.

Choir : LORD HAVE MERCY.

Celebrant : Let us pray.

Father, You have made the bond of marriage a Holy Mys-
tery, a symbol of Christs love for His church. Hear our
prayers for Joel & Joanne Grace. With faith in You and
each other they pledge their love today. May their lives al-
ways bear witness to the reality of that love. We ask this
through our Lord J esus Christ, Your Son, who lives and
reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and
ever.

4

All : Amen.

Commentator : Please be seated for the Liturgy of the Word.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

Commentator : Marriage means great sharing of selves. To pray together
opens up a new and deeper level of this sharing. To pray is
to place our life in our Fathers hands. It is to listen to Him,
to be open to His word, to respond willingly to His desires.
Let us listen to the first reading.

First Reading

Lorvi Ann : A reading from the Book of Genesis

Then the Lord said: It is not good for man to be alone. I
will make a suitable partner for him. So the Lord God
formed out of the ground various wild animals and various
birds of the air, and He brought them to the man to see
what he would call them; whatever the man called each of
them would be its name. The man gave names to all the cat-
tle, all the birds of the air, and all the wild animals; but none
proved to be suitable partner for the man. So the Lord God
made the man fall into a deep sleep, and while he was asleep,
he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.
The Lord God then built up into a woman the rib that He
had taken from the man. When he brought her to the man,
the man said: This at last, is bone of my bones and flesh
from my flesh! This is to be called woman, for this was tak-
en from man. That is why a man leaves his father and his
mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become
one body.

The Word of the Lord.

Lilian J oy : He fills my life with good things,
so that I stay young and strong like an eagle.

All : The Lord is kind and merciful.

Second Reading

Commentator : Love gives and forgives, accepts and adjusts. Among people
who love one another dearly, disagreements develop. If re-
conciliation follows quicklynever let the sun go down on
your angerthe healing goes beyond the hurt. Afterwards
one reaches a deeper degree of acceptance, love and under-
standing.

Alyza : A reading from the Letter of Paul of the Colossians

You are the people of God; He loved you and chose you
with His own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Be
tolerant with one another and forgive one another when-
ever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You
must forgive one another as the Lord has forgiven you. And
to all these qualities add love, which binds all the things to-
gether in perfect unity. The peace that God has called you
together in one body. And be thankful. Christs message in
all wisdom. Sing psalms, hymns and sacred song; sing to

7

God with thanksgiving in your hearts. Everything you do
are say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord J esus,
as you give thanks through Him to God the Father.

The Word of the Lord.

All : And with your spirit.

Celebrant : A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.

All : Glory to you, O Lord.

Celebrant : Some Pharisees came to Him and tried to trap Him by ask-
ing, Does our law allow a man to divorce his wife for what-
ever reason he wishes? Jesus answered, Havent you read
the scripture that says that in the beginning the Creator
made people male and female? And God said, For this rea-
son a man shall leave his father and his mother and unite
with his wife, and the two shall become one. Man must not
separate, then, what God has joined together.

All : Praise to you, Lord J esus Christ.

Celebrant : It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always
and everywhere to give You thanks, Father most holy,
through Your beloved Son, J esus Christ, Your Word
through whom You made all things, whom sent as our Sav-
ior and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of
the Virgin. Fulfilling Your will and gaining for You a holy
people, He stretched out His hands as He endured His pas-
sion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the res-
urrection. And so, with the angels and all the Saints we de-
clare Your glory, as with one voice we acclaim:

Choir : Holy . . . .

Commentator : Please all kneel.

Eucharistic Prayer

Celebrant : You are holy indeed, O lord, the fountain of all holiness.
Make holy therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down
your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may be-
come for us the Body and Blood of our Lord, J esus Christ.

At the time He was betrayed and entered willingly into His
Passion, He took bread and giving thanks, He broke it, and
gave it to His disciples saying:

Take this, all of you, and eat it, for this is my body, which
will be given up for you.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, He took the chal-
ice and, once more giving thanks, He gave it to His disci-
ples, saying:

Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chal-
ice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant,

18

which will be poured out for you and for many for the for-
giveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.

Acclamation

Celebrant : The mystery of faith.

Commentator : Please rise.

Choir : Christ has died . . . .

Celebrant : Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His death and
resurrection, we offer You, Lord, the Bread of Life and Chal-
ice of Salvation, giving thanks that You have held us worthy
to be in Your presence and minister You. Humbly we pray
that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be
gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, Your Church, spread throughout the
world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with
Francis, our Pope, Rolando Tria, our Bishop and all the
clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen
asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died
in Your mercy; welcome them into the light of Your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin
Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Apostles, and all the
Saints who have pleased You throughout the ages, we may
merit to be coheirs to eternal life; and may praise and glorify
You through Your Son, J esus Christ.

Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, O God, Almighty
Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is
Yours, forever and ever.

COMMUNION RITE

Celebrant : At the Saviors command and formed by divine teaching, we
dare to say:

All : Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be Thy name; Thy
kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tres-
passes, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Nuptial Blessing

Celebrant : My dear friends, let us turn to the Lord and pray that He
will bless with His grace this woman, J oanne Grace, now
married in Christ to this man, J oel, and that He will unite
and love the couple He has joined in this holy bond.

Father, by Your power You have made everything out of
nothing. In the beginning, You created the universe and
made mankind in Your likeness.

You gave man the constant help of woman so that man and
woman should no longer be two but one flesh and You teach
us that what You have united may never be divided.

Father, You have the union of man and wife so holy a mys-
tery that it symbolizes the marriage of Christ and His
Church.

Father, by Your plan, man and woman are united and a
married life has been established as the one blessing that
was not forfeited by original sin or washed away in the

20

flood.

Look with love upon this woman, You daughter, now joined
to her husband in marriage. She asks Your blessing. Give
her the grace of love and peace. May she always follow the
example of the holy woman whose praises are sung in the
scriptures.

May her husband put his trust in her and recognize that she
is equal and the heir with him to the life of grace. May he
always honor her and love her as Christ loves His bride, the
Church. Father, keep them faithful in marriage and let them
be living examples of Christian life. Give them the strength
which comes from the gospel so that they may be witnesses
of Christ to others. Bless them with children and help them
to be good parents. May they live to see their childrens
children. And after a happy old age, grant them fullness of
life with the saints in the kingdom of heaven.

Through Christ our Lord.

All : Amen.

Prayer for Peace

Celebrant : Lord J esus Christ, You said to Your apostles: I leave you
peace my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on

Your kingdom where You live forever and ever.
