The Number and
The Counted Noun

1- The counted noun is conjugated according to its position in the sentence and
the number 1 comes after the counted noun as an adjective.

2- In many cases the number 1 is not needed to be mentioned as a singular


word is showing one already, but it is a way of emphasizing.

3- It can also come without the counted noun in different positions in the
sentence.

2- The number 2 is not needed to be said as the word is in dual already, but it is
a way of emphasizing.
3- The number 2 can also come at any position in the sentences as in:

If they were women over two, (their share) for them is two-thirds of what he left (the
inheritance); if only one, her share is half.

1- The number comes usually before the counted noun t3|t u|t,
5>u/r& y7y , but it can rarely come after the noun as in: 9t @$us9

2- The counted noun when comes after the number is called ( Distinctive).

3- The counted noun after the numbers from 3 - 10 comes in plural

and in the position of ) ( but in conjugation preferably we say

5- We noticed that the numbers from 3-10 come in masculine and in feminine
form, Is there any rule for that?
The rule is that the numbers from 3- 10 when they come before the counted
noun, they come opposite in gender e.g. if the counted noun is feminine - in its
singular form* - the number will come in masculine and vice versa.

The word is a plural noun; its singular is which is a masculine noun,


so the number came in feminine. E.g. ending with

the number came in masculine. i.e. without
*Why should we go to singular form first?
Because some masculine singular nouns, their plural is in feminine plural as
we mentioned before, so the rule is to check the singular.

4- Numbers 13 19: The first part of the composite numbers is opposite in


gender with the counted noun( same rule as numbers from 3-10), but the
second part
