Working Scientifically:
Investigates questions and predictions by collecting and recording data, sharing and reflecting on
their experiences and comparing what they and others know (ST1-4WS).

Earth and Space:
Describes some observable changes that occur in the sky and landscape (ST1-8ES).
Describe some physical features of a landscape that have been changed by floods, droughts or
processes, e.g. weathering and erosion.
Identifies ways that people use science in their daily lives to care for the environment and the
Earths resources (ST1-9ES).
Share their observations and ideas about the ways that water is used by people in their daily
lives.
Identify some actions which could be taken to care for and use water sustainably, e.g. turning
off dripping taps and/or taking shorter showers.
Explore ways in which people use science knowledge and skills in their daily lives to care for the
environment and use resources sustainably.

Uses a structured design process, everyday tools, materials, equipment and techniques to produce
solutions that respond to identified needs and wants (ST1-5WT).
Researching and exploring different sources of information, including the internet.
Exploring different materials by observing and manipulating them and using trial-and-error.
Using techniques for documenting and communicating design ideas, including simple plans,
drawings and models, using familiar materials.

Supports conclusions by explaining or demonstrating how answers were obtained (MA1-3WM).
Use uniform informal units to measure the capacities of containers by counting the number of
times a smaller container can be filled and emptied into the container being measured.

(MA1-11MG).
Record capacities by referring to the number and type of uniform informal unit used.
Compare the capacities of two or more containers using appropriate uniform informal unit.
Record volumes by referring to the number and type of uniform informal unit used.

Data 1:
Gathers and organises data, displays data in lists, tables and picture graphs, and interprets the
results (MA1-17SP).
Gather data and track what has been counted by using concrete materials, tally marks, words or
symbols.

Use concrete materials or pictures of objects as symbols to create data displays where one
object or picture represents one data value (one-to-one correspondence).
Describe information presented in simple data displays using comparative language such as
'more than' and 'less than', e.g. 'There were more black cars than red cars' (Communicating,
Reasoning).
Write a simple sentence to describe data in a display, e.g. 'The most popular fruit snack is an
apple' (Communicating).
Creative arts: Drama
Conveys story, depicts events and expresses feelings by using the elements of drama and the
expressive skills of movement and voice (DRAS1.2).
Creates and adapts stories for enactment
Responds to the elements of drama, (e.g. tension, contrast, symbol, time, space, focus and
mood) to create shared meaning
Lesson 3
Creative arts: Visual arts
Makes simple pictures and other kinds of artworks about things and experiences (VAES1.1)
Makes artworks in a particular way about experiences of real things/life experiences,
Experiments with a range of media in selected form (VAES1.2)
Uses the forms to make artworks according to varying requirements.
