Cement Sales Rise 6% in H1
Reflection
Cement Sales Rise 6% in H1 is an article from the Philippine Star business section. I had
to read the article twice to understand it. There are terms that I didnt understand. It seemed
very foreign that at first but thankfully, I got a hang of it.
The article was about the sales rise of cement. It was mentioned that its due to a
stronger demand. There are lots of reasons that we can associate with the stronger demand.
One of those is that many infrastructures are being constructed. And according to the article,
the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructures that were destroyed by Super
Typhoon Yolanda was the notable factor for the increase in demand and the sales rise. As said
by the DBM, another factor is the Aquino administrations stronger focus on strengthening the
countrys economy through infrastructure investments.
I had Economics when I was in high school and I could still remember some concepts.
And one of those is the Law of Supply and Demand. And I believe that this concept is related
to this article. While checking out other business news articles, I found out that most of them
contain number figures and other abbreviations that I didnt understand at first. I had to
google those abbreviations in order to understand it. Although it was hard to decipher at first,
I appreciated it because I got to learn.
