TORNADO DRILL @ CPS TOMORROW MORNING 9 AM I wanted to give everyone a
heads up that a school-wide storm sheltering drill will take place tomorrow morning. The
practice drill will be conducted at 9:00 A.M. with an all-school announcement that
emphasizes the drill is for PRACTICE and that there is NO SEVERE WEATHER PRESENT by
our school.
Our teachers have never really let their guard down with respect to post-storm fears and
apprehension that understandably linger for many of our students. Weve continued to
focus on informing and reassuring to make students feel safe. This approach has been
reinforced by counseling support as needed. Minimizing fears and optimizing feelings of
safety and stability at school continue to be the overriding goal. Teachers have
communicated in an ongoing manner with students about the precautions we take at school
should there ever be threatening weather during the school day. Tomorrows required
practice drill will be handled in a low key manner with an emphasis to our students that
the drill is for practice ---- and something we have in place that makes them safe while at
Central Primary.
