As one of the only university campuses in
Canada to specialize exclusively in the liberal
arts, all Glendon students from beginners
to immersion grads finish with a working
knowledge of English and French, many picking
up a third language along the way. Glendons
beautiful, park-like campus, with 2,700 students,

STUDY IN A RAINFOREST
Students from various Faculties collaborate on
programs and courses that take place within
Las Nubes, a rainforest in southern Costa Rica,
donated to Yorks Faculty of Environmental Studies.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM
Each year, a group of enthusiastic students plan
Glendons Annual International Studies Symposium.
The highly demanding program has four main
components for which students earn credit:
seminars, an international colloquium, a countryspecific research essay and a field trip to the

studies and earning you an iBA, iBSc or iBBA.
20+ language courses including Jamaican-Creole, French,

students study in two languages English and French and

student earns at least one of three levels of bilingual

office for international student services, York International,
offers orientation programs, information sessions and social
activities. From advice about finding employment to leadership
programs, York International helps you feel comfortable on

Shenique Turner from Jamaica received
$3,000 as part of the York International
Internship Program to spend three
months working at Costa Ricas Cao
Palma Biological Station. At the end of
this internship, I will have learned how to
tag, monitor and excavate turtle nests to
test for success rates, says Shenique.
These skills will be applicable to any
conservation-related career path I pursue
in the future.

Entrance awards, scholarships and bursaries are offered by the University to students entering their first year

Values range from $100 to $100,000.
Some are automatically awarded and some require an application.

JOBS ON CAMPUS
Get a job on campus to earn extra money, gain valuable experience and contribute
to University life. These programs are available at both Keele and Glendon campuses and
offer a broad range of jobs.
International Research at York (iRAY): provides you with hands-on research experience
while assisting professors.
International Student Employment Program (ISEP): offers international students
Canadian work experience.
The hourly wage for campus employment can vary from $10.25 to more than $20 per hour.
York employs 1,200+ students each year in more than 300 departments.
There are 500+ full-time campus jobs in the summer.
OFF-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT
International students can obtain an open work permit under the Post-Graduation Work Permit
Program, with no restrictions on the type of employment and no requirement for a job offer.
The duration of the work permit is up to three years across the country.
Once you are enrolled at York, you can apply for in-course scholarships as well.
There are more than 1,800 in-course awards to be won every year at York.

Make sure you use the same name on all
documentation that you are submitting to York
University.
1. Application and application fee Apply through
the Ontario Universities Application Centre at
ouac.on.ca for January, May or September entry.
2. Official transcripts are required from all
institutions youve attended (secondary and
postsecondary), even if you studied part time or
several years ago.
US applicants: We may offer conditional
admission with strong Grade 11 finals and proof of
registration in Grade 12 courses.
3. Submit mid-term results or predicted grades and
proof of enrolment in senior year as soon as they
become available.
4. Supplementary information for Fine Arts, Social
Work or the Schulich School of Business.
5. Language test results (if required)

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
The majority of programs at the Keele Campus are
offered in English, while programs at our Glendon
Campus are offered in a bilingual (French/English)
environment. To gain admission, you must demonstrate
proficiency in your programs language of instruction.
For admission to a program offered
at Keele
If you are applying for a program offered in English and
have not completed four full years of study in English
at the secondary-school level in a country where
English is a primary language or where English is the
primary language of instruction, you must demonstrate
your language proficiency in English. Some exemptions

Students who have completed, or are in the process
of completing, the International Baccalaureate
diploma may meet our English-language requirements.
Students must show achievement of the IB diploma
once its been granted.
Note: Time spent in ESL courses will not be counted
towards meeting these requirements. Language
requirements will not be waived based on letters
written by applicants, SAT/ACT scores or as a result of
completing senior-level high-school English course(s).
