Resolving Conflict through Communication

Wait at least 30 min before you talk over the

situation

This will give both of you a chance to calm

down.

Take a time-out

Each person should have the chance to

explain his or her feelings without the other
person breaking in.

Choose a time and place to talk where you

wont be interrupted

Allow each person to tell their

side of the story uninterrupted

Both people should have the chance to

question each other.

Stay calm and respectful.

Also, stick to the issue. Dont bring up other

problems at this time.

Let each person ask questions

Try to see the situation from the other

persons point of view.

It will help you find a solution that will satisfy

you both.

Keep Brainstorming

T- take a time out

A- allow each person to tell his/her side of

the story uninterrupted

K- keep brainstorming

Talk Strategy

When you have come to a solution that both of

you can agree with, then you have to be
responsible for carrying it out.

If things dont work out then you need to go

through the whole process again to see how it
could be improved.

Conflict resolution is not easy. It takes everyone

involved to work together willingly and to
accept and carry out what has been decided.

Final Thoughts

Teachers and counselors can help you to

learn the skills for resolving conflict and
become a more confident, responsible and
independent person.

Problems don't go away if you ignore them in fact usually they get worse. It's a good idea
to face problems and get them sorted out as
soon as you can.
