Class Dojo

A flipped classroom is where the students watch

videos or lessons from home and then come to class the
next day to work on assignments and projects where the
teacher can help them. There have been some concerns
with this program including; students lack of responsibility, technological demands and teacher training. However, some schools are seeing many improvements by flipping their classrooms.
The Beaufort County School District have some
teachers that have flipped education on its head by
adopting flipped classrooms and flipped lessons. Their
approach includes making sure that teachers
are trained accordingly not only to learn the
technology, but how to implement this kind of
teaching into their curriculum for students success. Students are allowed to complete the home
videos at their own pace to come prepared with
questions the next day.
As an elementary school teacher I would
implement this kind of curriculum depending
on the lesson. I like the idea of providing a lesson over the weekend with review on Mondays.
This would allow students to have multiple days
to complete the online part of the lesson. It
would also allow the parents to make accommodations as
needed if they do not have a computer. As teacher Mary
Baker concluded, the flipped classroom is the class-

Making Your Class Website

Looking to make a website from your class
but dont have the money or the time to
learn how to build one? Well youre in luck!
Just this week I created my own website for
my classroom. I completed this feat using
weebly.com, a website builder.
Whats a Weebly?
Mr. Youngs
Corner

Weebly was recently named one of TIME

Magazines best websites. Weebly can be
used by companies, teachers, students, restaurants and bloggers. You can create up to 5 pages for free. The themes, colors
and layouts are all available to your choosing.
Why I Recommend Weebly
Yes, its free. Yes, its easy. But why I love Weebly the most is
because it is also very accessible for parents and students.
The pages are easy to navigate through and find information
users will need. Whether you teacher high school, elementary school or college, a Weebly website is a great resource
and tool to put all of your information on the internet.

Cyberbullying and How Can We Stop It

Cyberbullying is on the rise and destroying the lives of students around the
nation.
What is Cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying is the use of electronic devices in order to bully, harass and/or
threaten others. This is unfortunately a growing epidemic which has caused
many students to take their own lives. But we, together, can stop this! One way
teachers can help is to include a digital citizenship lesson in their curriculum.
What about Digital Citizenship?
Digital citizenship is the norm for the responsible and appropriate way in
which we use technology. As teachers we must ensure our students are using
the allotted computer time for the assignment given and to deter them from
cyberbullying. Many classrooms today are creating Digital Citizenship Pledges is which they are having not only the children sign, but their parents as
well.
Stop Cyberbullying
As teachers we must show are children that the Golden Rule applies not only
in person but online. The internet is a powerful tool which is capable of great
things. But it is also capable of terrible things that can ruin a students life. Talk
to your students. Tell them the dangers of cyberbullying and provide an open
door for anyone who feels they are being cyberbullied. Together, we can stop
this epidemic.

Why I Will Use Class Dojo

Class Dojo is an online program that allows teachers to
track behavior by acknowledging good behavior as well
as discouraging bad behavior. It allows teacher to improve behavior in their class quickly. The program is easy
and simple. Each student has a character to represent
them (a little monster). When the complete a good behavior the teacher records it into the program. When the behavior is not satisfactory the teacher also marks that in
their program. Parents can check the childs performance
and the teacher can access the program from their computer of phone. I plan to use this program in my classes to
monitor behavior and aid in my classroom management,
