Base Annual Salary: USD $4,740 to be paid in ET Birr

Summary of Basic Functions: Driver/Mechanics are responsible to transport Peace Corps staff, volunteers and official visitors to authorized destinations throughout Ethiopia in support of program and work requirements. NOTE: Driver/ Mechanic
is often expected to stay overnight in rural and remote areas of Ethiopia. He/she performs general maintenance service
and minor repairs. He/she ensures that all records (including vehicle log) are kept up to date. He/she is completes accurate
incident and/or accident reports. Acts as interpreter for American staff & volunteers on occasion. Assists program staff with
site identification field work, housing issues, moving and loading materials. Maintains proper license at all times. Serves as
on-call duty driver in rotating schedule which includes holiday, evenings and weekend work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of Secondary School (certificate)
Completion and certificate for Mechanic Certification
Applicant has current Grade 3 Drivers license for Ethiopia.
Clean driving record for past 5 years
3 years Professional driving experience with U.S. Government Mission, INGO (references re quired)
Level 3 English language proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing)
Fluency in Amharic (speaking, reading and writing). Addis driver Oromifa fluency. Mekele driver Tigrinya fluency required.
Able to lift loads up to 20 kgs
Must have knowledge of roads and directions to major towns in all regions of Ethiopia
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required
Commitment to excellence and customer service
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous work for Peace Corps
Computer skills and Microsoft software experience.

The Pre-Service Education Advisor is primarily responsible for planning, implementing and managing
the AIDSTAR-One Ethiopia pre-service education strengthening program in infection prevention &
control. The Advisor is expected to propose effective strategies for achieving programmatic goals,
provide direct support to educational institutions, coordinate with donors, key stakeholders and
partners and document successes, lessons learned and challenges in implementation.
SPECIFIC RESPONSBLITY

Provide technical assistance to universities and other institutions of higher education in


integrating new infection prevention and control (IPC) related content into the teaching of
selected health professionals as well as to strengthen the quality of education in selected
teaching institutions.
Design and develop, with in-country counterparts at the Federal Ministry of Health, the
Federal Ministry of Education and other local and international groups, pre-service education
strengthening strategies with an aim to build the capacity of national institutions in delivering
high quality, competency-based education that meets the needs of the health care system.
Lead the implementation of work plans and interventions in IPC related pre-service education,
coordinating inputs from technical experts from within AIDSTAR-One, nationally and
internationally, as well as from other implementing partners. Make adjustments to strategies
based on lessons learned from early implementation.
Work with universities to support application of new health content and teaching approaches
into the day-to-day teaching, mentoring of students and to operational curricular changes or
other educational programs.
Assess the ongoing needs in both technical assistance and material equipment and supplies
and work to meet the needs either using AIDSTAR-One resources or by coordinating and
leveraging support from other parties.
Actively coordinate support to individual institutions with USG-partners and relevant
organizations.
Provide, as able, technical guidance in education and training, performance support and
management, health care or workforce development.
Work jointly with the country director and other staff to coordinate planning and scheduling of
activities, supervise and guide the work of program assistants and ensure that logistical support
is available for the smooth implementation of events and activities as well as the overall
operations of the project office
Supervise and provide regular support, guidance and mentoring to focal persons identified by
the program within each of project targeted university.
Develop, adapt and consistently use structured monitoring tools whenever assessing
performance or making monitoring visits to pre-service education institutions so that findings
are routinely and comprehensively documented.
Participate actively in the development of work plans, implementation and training plans,
quarterly reports and other program deliverables.
Maintain relationships with counterparts in teaching institutions, clinical practice sites,
government authorities and other stakeholders and advocate for the program.
Model a proactive, problem-solving attitude which encourages teamwork and fosters high
motivation and enthusiasm with colleagues.

TO CONDUCT AN EXTERNAL EVALUATION OF A PROJECT ON ENHANCING THE EMPOWERMENT OF
WOMEN AND GIRLS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES OF FROM HARMFUL TRADITIONAL PRACTICES

Background
AcionAid International - Ethiopia (AAI-E) has been supporting wide range of development initiatives in Ethiopia since 1989. It envisages see a poverty free Ethiopia where every person lives
in dignity and prosperity. AAI-E exists to work with people living in poverty, women, youth and
children to eradicate poverty and mainly strives for the achievement of five mission objectives;
sustainable agriculture and food security; basic education; women empowerment; resilience
building and emergency response and public service delivery.
ActionAid Ethiopia has been implementing a project on the elimination of harmful customary
practices in ten districts and five regional states of Ethiopia for the last four years (2009-2012).
The donor agency responsible for funding the project is the UN Trust Fund in Support of Actions
for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The project, by and large aims to create awareness on harmful traditional practices and other forms of gender based violence and enhance
the capacity and coordination of stakeholders to respond to the problem.
The projects Monitoring and Evaluation and Knowledge Management Plan has clearly indicated the need to conduct final evaluation by an external consultant with the aim of having an
independent in-depth assessment of the results of the project in general and examining the
extent to which the project has contributed to stated outcomes, draw lessons from experience
and make recommendations to guide future programming for UNTF and AAE. The findings of

Organization Profile
Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoA-REC&N) involves six
countries: Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somaliland, and the Sudan. It is comprised
of higher education institutions, community-based and civil society organizations that
work towards the improvement of environmental governance and management in
the Horn of Africa region. One of the main programme components of the Centre is
its partnership programme which is aimed at stimulating and facilitating partnerships
between academia and both the private sector and civil society organizations in order to
implement environment related projects, particularly to kick-start activities on the ground
in a joint, multidisciplinary manner. HoA-REC&N has supported organizations by
