Genetically Engineered Babies

The idea of what us as human beings can create and accomplish has reached its
maximum circumstances for many, but for others new technological improvements is just a step
forward into the extreme capacity that is allowed in our human behavior. Science is and will
always evolve, whether it helps you or not is a matter of choice that is being discussed by many.
Some agree that is it honorable to say that humans have come this far to accomplish what can
be thought as nearly impossible, while others will debate the fact that if we continue to create
new inventions without thinking of the future consequences humanity will be soon lost and
morals will be vanished due to the fact that everything will fall into that category that is it simply
science and that we have to agree on it because this is the era we are living in. Genetically
engineered babies are the example of a new era in modern science. Human inventions have
allowed others such as parents who are unable to naturally procreate be given a child from their
own with the exclusion of its risks. Not only this method but others with genetically engineered
babies have allowed science behavior to show extreme improvements in what we know now is
modern science. Regardless of the invention people will always have a distinct mindset as to
why they think the subject is right or wrong for humanity.
Throughout the various sources we found information that allows us to view different
opinions people have about the subject. All areas of the opinions are great and very clear with
their debates. Many scholars that are with the positive side of this just simply argue that
inventions have one purpose and that it is to later on be improved, it is natural for the human
brain to wonder off and want simply more and more of what is being invented. Human nature is
to simply evolve and create better circumstances for everyone else around them. It is arguable
that what is being created may not be intended for a negative view but many will always have a
negative point of discussion towards it regardless. Scientific research will always be in constant
change, it may be for good or it may be for bad. For example the creation of the laser, its only
purpose was for the use of CDs and now its also used for the creation of nuclear weapons
(Robert Winston, 1). The pros people discuss are very clear, science is the ability to create
something and evolve another object from it. Men cannot control what will later come out of the
invention therefore it is impossible to stop men from creating and wanting to create more.
Science cannot be avoided and one must understand that its main purpose is to simply evolve.
It is an honor to be able to say how far humans have come to and how technology will help
modern life (Sheldon Krimsky, 1).
On the other side we also have the people who discuss why modern science is a threat
to human behavior and how it evolutionizing will become worse and worse throughout the years,
that people have lost their morals due to scientific researches. Men can only do so much before
the world becomes a chaotic place filled with crazy scientific experiments surrounding and
controlling everyone. Our children will soon no longer have room for imagination, it will all be
shielded with the excuse that it is modern science. It is certain without doubt that Genetically
Engineered Babies is an event that will be referred and will have more contradictions in the
future. Technology is taking over human behavior and sooner or later we will lose the moral
compass of what is right and what is wrong (Lee Silver, 1). Viewed as a dishonor to human
morals it is a great balance of what we know is the unregulated technological advances we

have, if this issue is not corrected and stopped immediately humans will think that anything is ok
due to the fact that it is covered with the mask of what we call modern science. We can limit
ourselves to what creations we make, what we cannot limit ourselves is to what future
consequences it will have (Dr. Nita Farahany, 1). Technological advances will always be
present we just have to keep in mind certain concerns and awarenesses that can appear sooner
or later. We must not lose the ability to distinguish the matter of stopping ourselves from wanting
more.
As science continues to grow we also witness the variation it has when it comes to mind
sets and opinions. It is impossible to control the way people think and view certain things. As
you can see there will always be a negative and a positive side to everything. Whether you
agree or disagree with the subject of genetic babies we can all agree on the fact that science
evolves and people will always be concerned of the consequences of the creation. Common
ground of this subject is that both sides have values and will debate with facts why modern
science is a good or bad thing for human behavior, specifically on genetically engineered
babies. The defensive side of morals and the honorable side of new technological
improvements will both share its interests and needs as to why the concept is what it has to be
and they will both identify the areas that have to be improved in the matter of the subject. Data
and analysis will also be observed and the main point will be clear.
