Talent Development begins in Kindergarten

based on teacher observation.

CogAT screening occurs in the beginning of 3rd


grade.

Student retests on the


CogAT (4th grade and
above) or student takes
the WISC-IV

Percentile, combined with Teacher


Recommendation, nominates students to the
Excel Team

Excel team meets and decides on appropriate


differentiation for student.

Further testing
required to determine
differentiation.

No placement
needed.

Student is identified as
AIG in math, reading, or
math and reading.

Student is placed on the


Wait and Watch list to
monitor for indications
of giftedness

DEP is written between the AIG Specialist and


classroom teacher depicting appropriate
differentiation.

AIG Specialists meets with parent to discuss


placement and service delivery.
