1. For Zachs 3D modeling class, he is asked to create a digital portfolio using a website
format. The website generator comes preloaded with plenty of stock photos to use to
personalize the website. Under each chapter tab Zach is supposed to add images of his
own 3D modeling to demonstrate his skill level. However, when it comes time to upload
his images he lost the file and neglected to save it correctly. The portfolio is due first
thing in the morning; he decides to find images of 3D modeling on the internet. He tells
the instructor but fails to give credit to the owner of the images on his website, would
Zachs use of the images be acceptable?

online with everything he needs. He decides he must be able to use the pictures
because they were on an educational website but he will go ahead and reword
everything in his own words. Does Jack violate any copy write laws by using the images

4. As part of an distance class using Adobe Flash, Diane is asked to create an original
website. She has learned how to insert images, create her own images, add music, and
create transitions within a website. She decides to create a website for a local band she
is a fan of. She uses the CD album cover and creates a altered image that resembles the
original for the main page of the website. She decides to add some intro music. She
inserts 12 seconds of the music from the bands CD that she has purchased. She then
puts the 12 seconds of music on a loop so that it continually plays. She is soo proud of
her work she sends the link over to the bands email and is eager to hear their thoughts.
Did Diane violate any copy write rules using the created image or adding the sample of

5. John a freshman in an engineering class is really excited because he just found out that
his school has purchased a 3D printer. He is also part an engineering school club. The
club really needs to fundraise for their competition in the spring. John decides to
download a 3D model of a robot off of a modeling website. He adds his schools name to
the 3D model and prints it in 3D, he proposes that they sell the robot trinkets during
lunches to raise money. At no point does John decide to add the designers name or
website. The robot trinkets are a success and John and his club is excited to print more
and more items to sell. Is John breaking any copy write rules by using the downloaded
file and making a profit?

6. Ryan is enrolled in her first ever distance learning class, and she is asked to review, and
design an existing online Biology class for high school students. The last time Ryan took
Biology was more than 10 yrs ago, and she does not know much about teaching the

concept. She tells the professor this and he suggests she find a mentor. She seeks out
someone but they fail to be of any help. She asks her professor once again for help and
he tries without success to find Ryan a subject matter expert. At last, the professor tells
Ryan to do the best she can. Ryan searches online and finds an abundance of lesson
plans and other curricula items. At the end of the class, Ryan is asked to write up her
redesigned class as a final exam. In the paper, she tells of her frustrations and her use
of other peoples work. The professor accepts the work and presents it to the online
high school Biology teacher. The teacher takes Ryans work and asks the students to
complete the assignments Ryan created for a grade.
