The document talks about the toxins and poisons created through genetic engineering
and the threat to the health of humans. Now that antibiotics have increased, they have
also created potential cancer hazards. All these genetic pollutants damage the
nutrition of food quality and the environment.
This is relative to my topic because it gives a viewpoint that is against GMOs and many
harmful effects that come with it.

Karger, S. (n.d.). Developmental Neuroscience. Available from

http://www.karger.com/Article/Pdf/362256.
This book focuses on the growing concerns of genetically modified organisms. It begins
by addressing the background of enzymes and ethical considerations. Several problems
have arrised with GMOs and gene therapy and it gives insight on these issues.
The book is important because it provides a review about the perspective of
transgenesis that is covered by the media.

This book talks about ways to minimize the effects of genetically engineered pollen on
multiple source populations. It emphasizes the importance of detection and risk
management because of the release of hazardous or unwanted transgenes.
Hybridization introgression is common with conventional crops but the gene flow has to
be monitored in order to avoid dangers.
This book is very resourceful because it gives much information and data as to how
crop genetics can affect the environment.

Nelson, S. R. (2005). Deconstructing genetically modified organisms: Academic

discourse on GMOs and its effect on popular understanding of food and
agriculture. International Journal of Technology Management & Sustainable
Development, 4. doi : 10.1386/ijtm.4.1.21/1
This article talks about the controversial terms that are involved with genetically
modified phrases and how changing these arguments would impact the discourse of it.
It talks about the origin of the rDNA and the big range of biotechnology and new
advances that come along with it. It includes a diagram of the increasing precision and
efficiency of different biotechnologies.
This article is relative because it compares and contrast modern and traditional
biotechnology and how it illustrates the nature of the GMO category.

Paparini, A., & Romano-Spica, V. (2004). Public health issues related with the
consumption of food obtained from genetically modified organisms.
Biotechnology Annual Review, vol 10, pages 85-122. Retreived from http://0www.sciencedirect.com.lib.utep.edu/science/article/pii/S1387265604100045
The article talks about acquiring the basic knowledge of GMO production and
consumption in modern agriculture. Biotechnology has become innovative nowadays
and has a great impact in science.
This is of relevance because it focuses on what GMOs are and considers social, ethical
and public health issues that come along with it.

Whitman, D. B. (2000, April). Genetically modified foods: harmful or helpful?. Retrieved

from www.csa.com/disscoveryguides/gmfood/overview.php
This website starts by giving a definition of what genetically modified foods are and
some of its advantages such as pest and disease resistance and nutrition. Along with
the benefits, it also mentions some drawbacks such as environmental hazards, human
health risks and economic concerns. Another big part is the regulation of GM foods
such as the labeling of the products.
This website is important to my research because it gives and overview of how GMOs
were defined back then and how that has evolved over time.

This article is about the area regarding GM food policies and the views of their risks and
tolerance levels in the US, Canada and European Union. It also includes figures of the
support of genetically modified foods in these 3 regions. All the data reveals that public
knowledge and skepticism of genetically modified food depends on what the press
shows.
This article is relevant because it not only give information about policy of genetic
modification of food in the U.S, but of Canada and European Union.
