Math This week worked on classifying polygons, triangles and quadrilaterals. We wrapped up the week
by reviewing for our Topic 8 geometry test which will be given on Monday. Students need to review geometry terms and how to correctly classify angles and geometry shapes. Our next math topic will be started
after Thanksgiving Break. We will be learning about fractions and decimals.

Reading

Next week we will not have a regular weekly reading story since it is such a short
week. We will, instead, spend the week reading various forms of literature on Thanksgiving and
the history of the holiday.

Grammar Next week since we are not moving on in our reading curriculum, we will not have a
new grammar lesson. We will instead spend the week reviewing the grammar we have learned so
far and working on our editing skills.

Writing Students finished their final draft of their debate this week. We will be presenting

and debating our topics next week and after Thanksgiving Break. Our next writing unit will be
focusing on writing more 5 paragraph essays and how to score top scores on the spring ISTEP.

Spelling We will not have a spelling test next week. Enjoy the week break! A list for the following week will come home on Tuesday.

Social Studies We finished our chapter on European Settlement at the beginning of the

week. We took the rest of the week to review and study for our Monday test. Students have a
study guide to study with as well as notes in their Social Studies notebook and a Social Studies
book that they may bring home. An extra credit assignment will be given next week and due
December 5. Students will be asked to write a front page newspaper article for an early colony.
Our next chapter will be over the New England colonies. We will start this after break.

Science-This week we finished our Energizing Indiana program. We have enjoyed learning various facts about our valuable resources. I hope you enjoyed your free kit, and I hope it helps
save on your energy bill! When we return from break we will move on to our next unit in science
on matter.
