OBJECTIVE

SKILLS & ABILITIES

EXPERIENCE

Personally, I want to be in a position in life where I can interact with other

people and teach them about the life around them. I am studying to be an
educator and hope to one day be involved with the future of our country
and teach children.
I am a football player at Christopher Newport University, so being athletic
has blessed me with strength and the ability to find pleasure in physical
labor. Also I am studying Mathematics and Education so that I can
eventually be a high school math teacher. I want to do this because I work
well with other people in all situations and seek to efficiently, yet enjoyably
help others and myself achieve our goals. One thing my coaches and
teachers would say about me is that I am teachable. Therefore, I am quick
to learn and enjoy not only the accomplishment but also the process it
takes to get there. Lastly, I am a person that handles conflict well. Critical
moments do not stress me out and cause me to become frustrated. Rather I
work through them and try to bring the entire team to a point of
understanding and possibility for improvement.
SCOOPER, BRUSTERS REAL ICE CREAM
August 2012- August 2013
At Brusters my job was to create any and all of the products we sold, interact with the
customers through sales, recommendations, and promotions put on by the store, motivate
other team members to perform at their best, and clean the store throughout the entire
shift to maintain a sense of pride in our work place.
BABYSITTER
December 2011- May 2012
As a babysitter, my primary responsibility was to care for the children I was in charge of, to
complete any household tasks asked of me by the parents, and to interact with the children
in ways that were fun and unique to my presence.
BRICKMAKER, COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG: REVOLUTIONARY CITY
May 2014- August 2014
In Colonial Williamsburg, many different trades are interpreted to guests in an accurate 18 th
century manner. Therefore, the summer of 2014 consisted of learning a great deal
pertaining to the brickmaking trade, performing the actual process of brickmaking, and
educating guests on all of the aspects of brickmaking being expressed at the site while
staying true to the age old techniques observed in the 18th century. I worked with other

summer staff on the job, but also worked closely with the master of the brickyard.

EDUCATION

CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY (CNU)-NEWPORT NEWS, VA-EDUCATION AND

MATHEMATICS
This Winter is will have completed my third semester at CNU. My GPA thus far is a 3.6
overall. During my time I have played Varsity Football, participated in the Canon Leadership
Program, and the Honors Program. The last two programs are academic groups that
recognize young minds and set them in a track for success in bettering the world around
them. Through all of these programs I have completed 30 hours of community service,
helped to cultivate learning in diverse groups, and gotten into deeper research with
professors seeking to make a change in peoples lives.
JAMESTOWN HIGH SCHOOL-WILLIAMSBURG, VA
From the fall of 2009 to the spring of 2013, I was a student at Jamestown. I graduated with
an overall GPA of 4.05. As a student I helped tutor other students, achieved high test scores
on subject specific competitions, and ended up ranked in the top 40 students of my 260
person class. Other organizations I was a part of during high school were football,
orientation for freshmen, National Honor Society, and Math Honor Society. At Jamestown I
discovered I wanted to be a teacher because I knew I wanted to work with people and began
to love to learn.

COMMUNICATION

In high school, I was chosen to be the captain of the football team two
years in a row. This opportunity arose because of my ability to lead my
peers and push people to be better. This leadership carried over into my
volunteer work at my church, the Williamsburg Community Chapel, where
I led small groups for middle school students every Wednesday. As a
scooper at Brusters, my coworkers enjoyed having me around because we
all got along, laughed, and still got all the necessary work done in the most
efficient way possible. All of these great things came about because when I
am involved in something I go all out for it and have fun with the people I
am with. I seek to make people laugh in appropriate ways and try to get to
know everyone better so that we in turn work better together.

LEADERSHIP

As mentioned above, I am in the Canon Leadership Program at CNU. This

is a group of 40 students (all grades) that are recognized on their entry
into school as people that have a high potential to cause a change in the
world through leading others. Also, in sports I was a football captain for
my junior and senior year of high school. I was put in this position because
of my hard work and the example I showed to my other teammates. At my
church, I was a volunteer small group leader and taught them about the
Bible and how to overcome common difficulties in life. This experience
definitely taught me patience and understanding. Some other recognitions
I have received are: math honors in high school for being a top 5
performer in math for my grade level, 2nd Team All-District in football for
being one of the best players in our district, and Scooper performance

awards for going above and beyond at Brusters.
