The Case on Isolationism

Mrs Chirst

Many nations around the world have practiced isolationism at some point in
history. The question is if the nation should follow that practice again or stay far away from the
idea of it. In America there are isolationists and neo-isolationists the two parties are in constant
debate with each other concerning the welfare of the nation. The isolationists are focused on
staying out of foreign conflict such as wars and limiting the amount of foreigners coming in and
out of the country. The neo-isolationist are concerned with the expansion of influence with other
nations allowing free trade and the goal in accruing resources to better insurer the growth of
America. The question concerning america's foreign policy has been in constant debate
whether to be involved or not.
America has hit many walls in the past with the issue of too much involvement
and interaction with outside nations. It has been apparent that past events such as lending aid
to nations in the process of war has brought america along with them. Fighting wars for other
nation giving weapons, sending troops isolationist see no point in doing this they believe that
america is sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. Wasting valuable resources that should be
conserved and focused on protection and expansion is the isolationist goal in the matter.
In The Case Against Isolation, he talks about america's constant involvement in
other nations and why america is in a constant state of dete. He explains that the cold war and
september 11 would have never occurred had it not been for America's involvement in affairs
outside of their own. Americas great presence in the world has given it the spotlight and has
made it a big target, Other nations my try to come into conflict or try to show of their strength by
picking a fight with America.(Michael Tomasky)

Neo-isolationist wish to have constant involvement in the world to prevent conflict
and struggle, to become a moderator of the world. America has great strength and with this
strenght resources are consumed and needed to sustain the war machine of america. NeoIsolationist want all the doors left open trade with nations integration of migrants and an
established relationship with allied nations. constant debate of the two parties however has left
america in a confused manner making it hard decision to be made. During the first world war
the american people saw the horror and carnage of war with unhappy citations with constant
riots and protest to the wars and others after it. Change had to occur so the two parties made
compromises allowing the isolationists to incorporate isolationism practices into the government
keeping America to itself. America had followed the policy for years but world war to occurred
which put america in a tough position having to be isolated from the world but in fear of what
was to happen to europe as Hitler devastated the world. although the the threat of Hitler was
very dangerous america did not enter the fray untal later on in the war. instead america lended
weapons and military supplies to europe . If europe had fallen who knows what would have
befall upon America; but with the help of America, Europe didn't fall. Thus from Americas act of
involvement in the war broke the seal of isolation and put America into the second world war.
America didn't send troops into the fight until the bombing of pearl harbor which officially put
America in the war.America tried to be an isolated nation but in the end didn't succeed in doing
so, isolationism is the policy that keeps one's nation out of the affairs of other nation. the policy
can change a nation for better or for worse sometimes splitting the nation in two. Americas
struggle with its separate parities of isolationist and neo-isolationist is a constant battle with an
argument that never ends with new debates every day.
