A. ORIENTATION
ALL

DRIVERS WILL ATTEND AN ORIENTATION AND SAFETY TRAINING SESSION AND WILL
SIGN A CERTIFICATION REFLECTING SUCH TRAINING. THE GOAL OF SAID SESSION IS TO
FAMILIARIZE EACH DRIVER WITH THE STRUCTURE, PHILOSOPHY, AND POLICIES OF
TRUCKS, INC. W E WILL REVIEW ALL OPERATIONS OF THE COMPANY AND CLEARLY
DEFINE THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE EMPLOYEE. IN ADDITION, WE WILL COMPLY WITH THE
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING REQUIRED
TRAINING.

B. PERIODIC TRAINING
PERIODIC TRAINING SESSIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED

NEWSPRINT FROM THE MILL TO NEWSPAPER PUBLISHERS THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHEAST
AND WEST TO TEXAS. W E ALSO HAUL COTTON, TIRES, PINE STRAW , CABINETS,
GROCERY PRODUCTS , AND OTHER RECYCLABLES AND MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTS.

C. COMMUNICATION IS KEY!
ALWAYS PHONE THE CUSTOMER OR DISPATCH IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE FOR ANY,
ANY, ANY REASON. THE LTL CUSTOMERS HAVE DOCK WORKERS WAITING TO UNLOAD
YOU AT YOUR SCHEDULED TIME OF ARRIVAL. ON THE OLD NEWSPAPER BACKHAULS,
SOUTHEAST PAPER NEEDS THE LOADS PICKED UP ON SCHEDULE, BUT ALLOWS
FLEXIBILITY IN THE TIME COMING BACK TO THE MILL AS THEY UNLOAD 24 HOURS PER DAY.
THE GOOD NEWSPRINT LOADS MUST BE PICKED UP AND DELIVERED AT THE APPOINTED
TIMES. SEE PHONE NUMBER LIST (APPENDIX A). PLEASE HAVE YOUR ACTUAL PICK UP
AND DELIVERY TIMES READY TO TELL DISPATCH!
ALWAYS ASK A DISPATCHER FOR PICK UP AND DELIVERY SCHEDULES AND TIMES.
PLEASE ALWAYS CONFIRM DIRECTIONS PRIOR TO LEAVING WITH THE LOAD BY CHECKING

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANOTHER EMPLOYEE OR ANYONE AT A CUSTOMER'S SITE,
REPORT IT TO DISPATCH OR SAFETY AT TRUCKS, INC. AND WE WILL HANDLE IT
APPROPRIATELY. NEVER, NEVER ARGUE OR FIGHT AT A CUSTOMER'S SITE.

J. UNIFORM/APPEARANCE CODE
EACH DRIVER WILL BE ISSUED TRUCKS, INC. SHIRTS AND A HAT,

WHICH WILL NOT BE


CHARGED UNLESS THE DRIVER LEAVES WITHIN ONE YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT. SHOULD
THE DRIVER LEAVE; THE COST OF THE ISSUED ITEMS WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE LAST
PAYCHECK (SHIRTS $17 EACH AND HAT $5). THESE ARTICLES OF CLOTHING ARE
RECOMMENDED TO BE WORN WHILE DRIVING OR AT A CUSTOMER SITE . IF A DRIVER
ELECTS NOT TO WEAR THIS CLOTHING, OTHER NEAT AND CLEAN CLOTHING MUST BE
WORN. NO OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE OR PICTURES SHOULD BE WORN WHILE ON DUTY.
ADDITIONAL SHIRTS AND A HAT WILL BE ISSUED ANNUALLY.

EMPLOYEES ARE TO BE NEAT, CLEAN, SANITARY AND FREE FROM ODOR AT ALL TIMES.
SHOWERS ARE AVAILABLE IN JACKSON, CONLEY, AND DUBLIN. HAIR IS TO BE NEAT AND
CLEAN AT ALL TIMES , WITH LONG HAIR IN A PONYTAIL OR BRAID WHILE ON DUTY.
VIOLATIONS OF DRESS/APPEARANCE CODE MAY RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION.
K. ALL NEW EMPLOYEES WILL BE PLACED ON A 90 DAY PROBATIONARY PERIOD DURING
WHICH EMPLOYMENT MAY BE TERMINATED FOR VIOLATION OF ANY POLICY OR AS
OTHERWISE DETERMINED THAT THE RELATIONSHIP IS NOT A MATCH FOR BOTH COMPANY
AND EMPLOYEE.

LODGING EXPENSES INCURRED.

HAVE SET THE PER DIEM RATE AT A LEVEL SO AS NOT TO EXCEED YOUR
EXPECTED EXPENSES . THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE REQUIRES THAT IF ANY
AMOUNTS RECEIVED UNDER PER DIEM EXPENSE PLAN EXCEEDS THE ACTUAL
AMOUNT OF EXPENSES INCURRED OR THE STATED DAILY RATE FOR THE AREA OF

ANY SPEED ABOVE 70 MPH WILL BE REPORTED BY THE MAINTENANCE

THE DOT

REQUIRES ANY EMPLOYEE WHO HAS DIRECT INFLUENCE OVER THE


SAFE OPERATION OF THE COMPANY, PRIMARILY COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVERS
AND MECHANICS, SAFETY AND DISPATCH TO BE IN THE TESTING POOL. THE
COMPANY WILL PERFORM DRUG TESTS AT A 50% RATE AND ALCOHOL AT A 20%
RATE OF SUCH ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES PER YEAR. HOWEVER, TRUCKS, INC. IS A
100% DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE PER THE STATE OF GEORGIA AND THUS, ALL
EMPLOYEES ARE SUBJECT TO DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING.

2. CAN I REFUSE A DRUG OR ALCOHOL TEST?

THE INITIAL TEST SHOWS POSITIVE, YOU WILL BE RETESTED WITHIN 15 MINUTES. POSITIVE RESULTS ON ANY SECOND
READING WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION.

UNDER

THE EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, IF ANY EMPLOYEE VOLUNTARILY


COMES FORTH TO ADDRESS A PROBLEM WITH DRUGS AND/OR ALCOHOL - PRIOR
TO BEING SELECTED FOR ANY TEST, HE/SHE WILL BE PLACED ON A 30 DAY,
UNPAID SUSPENSION. HOWEVER, THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE GIVEN THE

SINCE

THE CLIENTS FOR WHOM WE MAY TRANSPORT HAZ/MAT MATERIALS SEAL THE
TRAILERS, IT IS THE DRIVER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INQUIRE AS TO THE POSSIBILITY OF
HAZ/MAT FREIGHT BEING ON BOARD. THE SHIPPER SHOULD PROVIDE THE DRIVER
WITH SHIPPING DOCUMENTS THAT IDENTIFY THE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL CONTENTS AND
SHOULD PROVIDE APPROPRIATE PLACARDS.

GIVEN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MATTER, ASK POLITELY IF ANY HAZARDOUS


MATERIALS ARE ON BOARD AND REQUEST APPROPRIATE PAPERWORK AND PLACARDS.
ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY THE MATERIAL USING SHIPPING DOCUMENTS AND EMERGENCY
RESPONSE BOOKLET PRIOR TO MOVING THE LOAD. IF FURTHER ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED
TO IDENTIFY MATERIAL OR METHOD OF HANDLING MATERIAL, ASK THE SHIPPER BEFORE
YOU LEAVE WITH THE LOAD. MAINTAIN SHIPPING DOCUMENTS ON YOUR SEAT OR IN THE
SIDE POUCH OF YOUR DOOR READY FOR ANY AUTHORITY AND PROMPTLY PROVIDE FOR

REVIEW IN ANY ACCIDENT OR ROAD CHECK. W HEN YOU ARE CARRYING HAZARDOUS
MATERIALS, IT IS REQUIRED THAT YOU KEEP YOUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE BOOK IN AN
ACCESSIBLE PLACE (EITHER ON YOUR SEAT OR IN YOUR DOOR POCKET).

KNOW THE MATERIAL AND THE METHOD TO DEAL WITH THE MATERIAL IN YOUR
TRAILER BEFORE YOU MOVE WITH IT!!
THE RESPONSIBILITY LIES WITH THE DRIVER TO MAKE SURE THE PLACARDS ARE ON YOUR
TRAILER IF YOUR BILLS SHOW HAZ/MATS. CONVERSELY, YOU SHOULD REMOVE ANY
PLACARDS FROM TRAILERS THAT DO NOT CONTAIN HAZ/MATS. IF YOU DO NOT
REMOVE PLACARDS WHEN NO HAZ/MATS ARE BEING HAULED, YOU WILL BE CHARGED
WITH ANY RESULTING FINES AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
C. WHAT TO DO IN AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING HAZ/MAT AND
EMERGENCY RESPONSE

ACCIDENT PROCEDURES PREVIOUSLY OUTLINED, WHILE MAINTAINING


THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL INVOLVED. ALWAYS CALL
TRUCKS, INC. AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE!

2. GET MEDICAL HELP.


3. CONTACT

APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES (POLICE, STATE PATROL, SHERIFF, ETC)


AND INFORM OF CONTENTS AS STATED ON SHIPPING DOCUMENTS. YOU MAY BE
ASKED FOR THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE NUMBER YOU IDENTIFIED IN THE ERG
BOOK, SO BE PREPARED TO OFFER DETAILS OF YOUR FINDINGS. COOPERATE
FULLY WITH OFFICIALS TAKING PRECAUTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY
OF OTHERS!!!!

4. CALL DISPATCHER

OR SAFETY, NOTIFY THAT HAZ/MATS ARE INVOLVED, AND


FOLLOW HIS OR HER INSTRUCTIONS. AS WE HAVE OUR OWN FIRMS TO HANDLE
SPILLS, PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE CHEM TREC NUMBER LISTED ON THE BACK OF
YOUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE GUIDE BOOK UNLESS INSTRUCTED BY SAFETY.

OUR SAFETY DEPARTMENT WILL CALL OUR HAZARDOUS SPILL CLEAN UP TEAM.
PLEASE INFORM THE AUTHORITIES THAT YOUR SAFETY DEPARTMENT IS IN THE
PROCESS OF SENDING OUT A UNIT AND PROVIDE THEM WITH OUR TELEPHONE
NUMBERS.

ANNUALLY. THIS FORM, COMBINED WITH AN MOTOR VEHICLES REPORT (MVR), WILL BE
USED TO ASSESS THE DRIVER'S PAST DRIVING HABITS AND WILL BE TREATED AS AN
INDICATION OF HIS OR HER ABILITY TO CONTINUE IN A SAFE AND CONSCIENTIOUS
MANNER.

DISQUALIFICATION
ALL FMCSR REQUIREMENTS REGARDING DISQUALIFICATION WILL BE FOLLOWED. IN
ADDITION, THOSE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THE "PRE-QUALIFICATION STAGE OF HIRING",
