Subject of Inquiry: Christian in UNCC

Formatting needs some editing to meet the

memos format. Section titles should be bolded
rather than underlined.

Initial Inquiry Idea:

Through numerous campus Christian activities, such as Bible Study, CRU meeting, Unforgetting
( Christian leadership camp), how do Christians constructed through these participation to shape
their identity. Do they know more themselves and make more friends, who have the same
religion, to enforce them to consider as Christian?.

The content paragraphs should all be left

justified and should drop a line between
paragraph breaks in a technical document like
this. I will edit one of the paragraphs part way to
show you. Methods section should be a
paragraph rather than bullet points.

I go to the Monday sophomore bible study group, so we simply talk about our happiness and
sadness during weekend that we can express our feeling to each others. During the bible study,
we study each chapter in every meeting and find out what clues God gives us . As being part of
Christian groups, I can personally interview my Christian friends how they engage in the activity
to strengthen their Christian identity through the activities they joined.
Being a Christian, we can know more about ourselves and motivate us to reach our goal. It, gives
us purpose to become positive in our journey and that makes me want to know does the activities
really help for shaping the identity or personal spirit build the identity even though they dont
take part in any Christian activities? What is the reason do they join the activities? What are the
outcomes of them?

Comment [R2]: Some of the word order here
could be edited for clarity.
..how do Christians construct their identity
through participating?
Comment [R3]: Great. Engaging in these
activities allow them to understand and
strengthen this identity, and you want to find out
in what ways these groups are shaping them.
Comment [R4]: What do you mean when you
say they dont participate in Christian activities?
I thought they were part of these groups, which
would be Christian activities?

Although I didnt have not been baptize yet, I would like to explore myself to know more God.
Looking the relationship between God and my Christian friend, really spur me to move a big step
though trusting god because I also want to have the same outcomes as them.
Method:
a. Firstly, I need to research the Christian identity on websites or other resources in order
helps me to set up the questions. Then I will interview a Christian on how they enforce
his or her identity by joining the Christian activities. After that, I will analyzse how his or
her responses that can really help to relate to my topics.
b. I think interviewing is definitely helpful because they voice their opinion on how do they
shape their Institution identity in Christian activities.
c. I will go to the bible study group and CPU meeting to ask them questions.
d. I will use the theory of institutional identity that how do they look for themselves by
their position and the example of how campus Christian center help?

Comment [R5]: I will let you edit your

formatting from this point on.

Root Question:

Comment [R10]: Okay, and I think you should

be open to affinity identities too since that is
dependent on participation.

Comment [R6]: Okay good. I have a strong

sense of what you are interested in with these
groups and their effects on the people who
attend these activities. You may want to spend
some time defining what you mean by identity
(spiritual, world view, beliefs, their actions, how
they view themselves, etc).
Comment [R7]: Okay good. Do you know
which websites you will use? Are there certain
websites that are supported by these groups
meaning do they point you to specific websites
or have their own websites?
Comment [R8]: Yes definitely (and their
affinity identities how the people of the group
affect them)
Comment [R9]: Could you also do
observation notes about what happens at
meetings?

1.

How are Christians are constructed through participatinge in different activities to help
them shape their identity?
Questions:
Does joining Christian activity help Christian to shape more their institutional and
affinity identity than those who just have personal spirit without attending the activities?
How do the Christian activities to shape Institutional identity?
What are the difference of identity between Christians who participant in Christian
activity and who dont?.
Does peer recognition benefit ChristainChristian shape Discourse identity in Christian
activities ?
How do Christian exercise the reactions with Gods to order Christian by shaping affinity
identity in Christian activities?

Comment [R11]: Is this the same as the first

question in the bulleted section?

Comment [R12]: Im not sure what you mean

here.
There were a couple parts where the order of
words cause the meaning to not be as clear as
could be. I recommend that you look into the
Writing Resources Center for additional writing
tutoring for my class and others
(http://wrc.uncc.edu). They do one on one
sessions that could very much so help you
better communicate your ideas.
Overall, strong start to your research. It will be
interesting to see how you end up defining an
institutional identity and an affinity identity within
this subject.
