OBJECTIVES Through these learning activities, the student will be able to:

INSTRUCTION

Teaching strategy:

Child Centered
Introduction/Set induction

Bring that students together and talk to them about how it is important to work together and how it is
easier to work together to get things done. Ask the students if they know what working together is, is if
they can come up with a definition. Then tell them- working with people around you nicely.
Instructional Activities

Have the students work together to create a community in the desert. The students will have to all do
something in the community. They will be able to create plants, animals, people, insects, reptiles ect.
There will be a big piece of white paper on the wall and the students will have to decide as a class where
their items go. All the students will have a piece of construction paper, crayons, and scissors.
Conclusion/Closure

Ask the students what was the hardest thing about making the community? Ask them if they think it is
important to work together? What did you guys do to figure what where the items were going to be on
the piece of paper?
Transitional Activities

Have the students pretend that they are the item that they created, or at least an animal that is in the
desert.
How this lesson provides for ASSESSMENT of student learning:

By watching how the students interact with one another.


Pre-assessment

Finding out what they know about working together.


Checking up

While the students are creating the community and putting the items on the paper I will be watching to
see how they are interacting with one another. Make sure they are being respectful.
Post-assessment

Ask them to tell you one way they worked together with someone else.
How this lesson provides DIFFERENTIATION for the students in this class:

All studetns will be able to create their own part of the community and them work together to figure
out how it is going to look.
