The Best is Yet To Come

As soon as the first

song started Friday

night, I could tell
there was a
comradery that was
long-standing in
this group. The
openness and
acceptance was
practically an art
form.

All I can say is "Wow"!

You guys sure know how
to lavish love on people. As
a first-timer at a Koinonia
Retreat, I wasn't sure what
to expect. My friend, Cindy
Goral, who invited us
assured us there would be
several good surprises and
she was right. As soon as
the first song started Friday
night, I could tell there was
a comradery that was longstanding in this group. The
openness and acceptance
was practically an art form.
The phrase for the weekend
was "the best is yet to
come". It was true not only
for the weekend but is a
reminder that God is
speaking the same thing to
us all the time. We never
know what He is going to
be up to next, but he is
always lavishing his love
on us.
Having been on many
retreats before, my
expectations were low.
I was expecting mediocre
food, under par lodging,
gimmicky bonding rituals
and emotionally loaded
altar calls. But imagine my
surprise at the authenticity
of the whole weekend. It
took a lot of planning to
pull off all the surprises and
room changes, but it was
done with skill and
excellence.
But the logistics are just
the tip of the iceberg. I
walked into that weekend

with a struggle that no one

knew about. I have been
working three part-time
jobs trying to get a church
started and I felt as if
my life was
unmanageable. In fact, I
wondered if the weekend
would actually re-focus
me or set me back on my
time management issues.
Saturday night there was a
time for intercessory
prayer and a chance to
nail some things to the
cross. I knew exactly what
needed confessing in my
life and I came knowing
that God was going to
work through those
prayers. I confessed that
my life seemed
unmanageable. I needed to
be managing my time, my
diet, my sleep and my
family better to be more
productive. It was
especially impressive that
there was this prayer
wheel on display and that
there were people praying
constantly throughout the
whole weekend. After the
retreat was over and I
talked one of the staff
members into giving us an
impromptu tour of the
other facilities on campus,
I came back into the main
lodge one more time. I
expected everyone to be
gone. Much to my
surprise, a large number
of people were still there
praying. It had been said
several times during the
weekend that the

Koinonian retreats were

all about prayer and based
on prayer. Seeing those
people still praying after
what must have been an
exhausting weekend of
serving gave me some
kind of renewed hope that
God was going to
intervene with my prayer
request.
Since that weekend I
have had the most
unbelievable focus and
productivity in my
schedule. My diet is back
on track and I am sleeping
through the night better
than I have in months. I
know it was answered
prayer. So now it is my
turn to pray for
you..."Father God, thank
you for these servants who
care deeply and sacrifice
much. Please bless them
with the needs that they
have and intervene in their
daily lives the way you
have intervened in mine
these last two weeks. In
Jesus' name, AMEN!
Thanks for all the great
speeches, discussions,
hugs, small groups, meals,
serving and most of all the
prayers. I am glad to be
following Christ with you
all. The best is yet to
come...May the peace of
the Lord be with you.

THE COLORADO KOINONIA BOARD NEEDS YOU!

The Colorado Koinonia Board is seeking interested individuals to fill several open
Board positions. This is a great way to serve the Koinonia Community while enjoying
fellowship with other Koinonians. If you would like to have input into the decisions
made by the board we would love to have you join our team. We meet monthly to
discuss and make decisions on issues which arise. The open positions are Secretary,
Pre-Koinonia, and Home Team.
The Secretary position takes and keeps a record of the minutes at the board
meetings, distributes these minutes to the board members for the next meeting,
presides over the board meeting in the absence of the chairperson, and handles any
correspondence as instructed by the board.
The Pre-Koinonia position coordinates processing of new participant applications,
interfaces with each new participant, coordinates applications with sponsors if needed,
with the Treasurer coordinates the funds collected from the applications, and provides
copies of the participant list to the Palanka Party.
The Home Team position helps the Head Home Team with coordination of the
Palanka Party as needed, which includes: assist running of the Palanka Party, helping
to make sure all the duties are fulfilled (prayer wheel, weekend needs, collection of
reservations and money for breakfast and lunch at mananitas, etc.), and helping to
make sure all of the palanka is prepared.
If you are interested in any of these positions or need more information you may
contact Chris at 303-919-3637.
Please pray and listen, is God calling you to serve in this capacity?
