Reflection

I created this eportfolio to demonstrate some of my strengths as a teacher. Mainly, I have

gained these strengths through the education program at Dixie State University. All of these
items in my eportfolio are a testament to the caring, competent and qualified the educator that I
have become. Each artifact in this eportfolio has been organized through the DSU DESERT
model standards. As I have created this eportfolio I have gained skills that I will take with me
into my future career as a teacher.
Through these artifacts in my eportfolio it is evidence that I have become a competent
educator. My science lesson using technology (DM1) is an artifact that incorporates SIOP, and
differentiation for many students. Also, in this lesson I incorporated technology to better help my
students grasp the concepts taught. Through this artifact I created an effective lesson, and taught
an effective lesson stretching my abilities as an educator. Also through my student assessment
profile (DM1) I have created an artifact that shows my ability to assess students needs. In this
artifact I assessed two students who had a behavior issue, and developed a two unique plans to
help them with their self-regulation. Through this artifact I have proven my competency in
administering assessments, and creating plans to better help my students succeed.
As I created these artifacts I have become more caring as an educator. Through my
classroom management plan (DM4) I have created different plans which will have helped me
become a more caring teacher. As I created this artifact I thought about the type of classroom
that I wanted to create for my students. I want my classroom to have a warm and open
environment. This classroom management is an assignment which demonstrates that I am a
caring teacher. Also, my classroom website (DM6) is an artifact which demonstrates my caring

disposition as an educator. In this artifact I created a website which I will use with my future
students and their families. I believe that teachers should partner with parents, and through this
website I will be able to collaborate with my students families. I want to become a teacher who
makes parents feel welcome in my classroom, and through this artifact I am demonstrating my
caring disposition.
Each artifact in this eportfolio demonstrates that I have become a qualified educator.
However, there are certain artifacts which prove my qualification more effectively than others. In
my educational philosophy (DM6) I have become a more qualified teacher than I was before this
education program. I have developed a philosophy which incorporates theorist and skills which I
feel demonstrate my teaching as a qualified educator. Also, I feel that my SIOP Evaluation Form
from Supervised Lesson (DM1) demonstrates my ability to create and teach effective lessons.
Through this program I have become qualified in developing lesson plans, and delivering lessons
which are highly qualified. I not only can create qualified lessons, I can also create lessons using
SIOP and differentiation. My supervisor in this education program has evaluated my lesson, and
through her evaluation I have received a score which validates my qualified teaching disposition.
All in all, I have created this eportfolio to demonstrate my ability in becoming a caring,
competent and qualified teacher. Each artifact in this eportfolio has been organized through the
DSU DESERT model standards, and validates my abilities as an educator. I have learned and
gained many skills in this education program which will benefit me as I as a future teacher.
