Review of Key Events


In pairs, students will create a timeline of the chapters they have read so far. They will add one event to this timeline, then
pass it to the next group. The next pair of students will add a different event, and so on until the students end up with their
original paper. In a whole class discussion, students will add any other events they think are important.
Chapter 7 Read Aloud
Begin with expectations for read aloud (no side conversations, stopping at points, following along with book).
Questions for Whole Class Discussion, keeping track on board:
Why is Gretel acting oddly?
Describe Kotler: What do we know about him? What does he look like? Does Bruno like him?
(Later) Add to Kotlers description.
What does Pavel mean by, I think Ive always been here.?
Describe Pavel: What do we know about him? How is he treated?
Contrast Pavel and Kotler:
Use table on back of timeline/new page.
Pavel: Old, skinny, young man respect, servant/doctor, makes Bruno feel safe, gentle/kind, treated poorly
Kotler: Young, muscle, little man disrespect, soldier, scares Bruno, mean/aggressive, revered.
