Danika ( Cook Island Maori Girl aged 12 years)

28th Oct, 2014

Today I struggled to finish the page as my brain was blocking me from finding answers and I
think it was due to blurred and sweeping perception and my impulsivity.
29th Oct
Today we learned about Longitude and Latitude and how to points on a map using coordinates. We also learnt about how impulsivity can affect you during tests and exams and
the importance of planning before you start.
3rd Nov
Today we learnt how perceptions can be different from others and how your perception of
something can change. We also discussed how to make a puzzle and what strategies you can
use to make a Wasjig puzzle.
5th Nov
Today I used visual transport and a systematic search to find the answers in Analytic
Perception. I am also now able to work out the Variations with ease.
6th Nov
Today I really enjoyed the lesson because of the challenge of completing the Variations page.
Our group all tried to persuade each other how their answer was right, by backing it up with
logical evidence. Overall we came to an agreement on the answer being number 3.
13th Nov
Today I really enjoyed the lesson as I am now able to use Structural Analysis to break down
problems into parts, so that the problem is easier to understand
17TH Nov
During the Variations the first answer I got was incorrect due to blurred and sweeping
perception and because I did not plan beforehand. Then I realised after scanning the page and
synthesising that the answer was 2.
20th Nov
At first I was unable to see the shapes, although when I used the yellow paper a purple figure
appeared and began moving around the paper.
24th Nov
Today my impulsivity over ruled me as I did not plan and create an efficient strategy. Also as
a result of sweeping perception I missed lines that were connecting the figure together. Next
time to improve I will stop and think of an efficient strategy which will not only be
systematic but also time wise.
25th Nov

During the Ravens I tried to calm my impulsivity I stopped and thought and began a
systematic search to eliminate answers. I felt that this test was easier than the first.
27th Nov
Today I enjoyed our lesson with the new instrument although during the Comparisons book I
realised that I need to improve my verbal expression.
Sophie- lee
28th Today I didnt feel very successful because I didnt finish but I think I did better than the
first time I did it.
29th Before class started I had no idea what Longitude and Latitude meant but now I have a
clearer idea.
3rd Nov I love doing puzzles and figuring out how the pieces fit together and even though I
didnt know what the picture was, I just sorted the pieces in colour and edges.
4th When I did the Ravens, Section E was the most difficult for me and I didnt realise I easily
solved a question from Section E. I feel like I am learning and improving a lot, to figure out
the questions I used systematic search, synthesising and visual transport.
6th At first when I started the C10 activity sheet I was very confused until I used the
superordinates: numbers, lines. I really enjoy doing those sheets
12th I was so confused when I saw the paper but then I thought since we were just talking
about numbers maybe it has something to do with math. I LOVED the videos that we
watched about the Fibonacci Series: 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21
13th The E Variation page was really fun, I used a systematic search
17th I first looked at the Variations paper and thought that I should break the pictures down to
into parts, so I used a systematic search and looked at it bit by bit. I finished the whole Dot
page !! and I felt so happy about it.
20th When I looked at the Red Square and saw a Green Square, slightly larger, it looked like
it was glowing. Then I tried overlapping them and the result was a pattern of 4 green and
purple squares.
24th When I did the Ravens Test today I got stuck on a few and had to guess. But I did finish
and I hope I did well.
27th The Comparison book is different to the other books we have done I had to try to write
all of my ideas in one word.
Troy
28th Today when we did Page 7 of the Dots I had blurred and sweeping perception and I
overcame that by looking really hard.
29th Today I learnt more about visual perception and had fun doing the little charades game.
3rd Nov Today we looked at a new book called analytic perception and I think it means to
break apart to make it easier for you to work out

5th The page of analytic perception I found it quite easy but my strategy was to look at
different angles. And I also liked my strategy for the Ravens paper.
6th Today in analytic perception I found it easier on page 6 but I had a lot of fun on the
Variations page.
12th today I found the analytic perception as I eliminated the irrelevant information and used
visual transport but I didnt really get the first Fibonacci video
13th Today I really understood the Variations page
17th Today on the variations page I found two synthesis one was on the inside and one on the
outside.
20th Today the analytic page was easy and I was fascinated but the after light especially the
yellow having one of purple.
21st Today the analytic perception page was an easy page but it still had its complexity. I felt
proud about my method of working out he answers in Variations
24th Today I found the dots pages to be very complex and it got extremely hard on page 11
with fish and boat like shapes.
27th today doing the first 3 pages of the Comparisons book were very easy.
Ivan
23rd Oct I really enjoyed learning about Transcendence and doing more Variations puzzles,
they really make you slow down and look at the big picture
28th It was great to learn about Longitude and Latitude I was quite tired so I dont think I did
well today
29th I like learning about Gestalt and more on transcendence
3rd Nov Anylytic Perception is about seeing things from a different perspective and being
able to understand something in a different way.
5th Nov I enjoy using logical evidence plus relationship to find the answers to questions
6th Nov It was interesting to cover Sequence and organised analysis. The best bit was when
we covered the Fibonacci series
12th I found it hard holding two sources of information and the pages were difficult
13th I likes using comparison but I felt quite bored and wanted more of a challenge today
17th I found it quite hard to find relationships on the dots page.
20th Page 11 of Structural Analysis was a blast! I enjoyed visually transporting the reference
into the models, the best bit was a small in joke about the Organisation of Dots in the ninth
model
21st It was very interesting doing the AP page because I like synthesising the columns
together. It was fun talking about Feuerstein in real life use

25th I am training my brain to think in a smarter, more systematic way to help me in life. It
allows me to think in a higher order way and a lot of the things we learn can help us in tests
and other things. I feel as though my IQ has risen just by being here! I know it has helped
because I am able to use the language in normal speech and I am able to complete puzzles I
couldnt do before.
27th Today I started the Comparisons Instrument, I like how this focuses on Verbal
expression and comparing two things.
Holly
23rd Oct When I first started the page with no reference points because there were already
lines drawn for me. It got harder when the lines werent there so I found the arc of the boat
first.
28th Today I was very impulsive because I was nervous and wanted to get a head start. I
managed to finish page 7, I realised that it was a lot easier than the first time I did it. I stuck
with my plan and it worked throughout the whole page.
29th Today we learned and revised some new vocabulary. I was exceptionally proud of our
class test results as we made huge improvement. I cant wait to try a new instrument next
week.
3rd Analytic Perception to me is breaking it down to work out the whole. Wasjig was a very
complex puzzle since it doesnt give you the answer/picture to refer to when youre building
it.
5th I thought the new instrument were doing was simple but then I realised its going to get a
lot more complicated. I was surprised that I did the E-1 page correctly, I am really hoping to
see more improvement
6th When I took the first glance at C-10 I was clueless. At the end it was a hard choice
between 2 answers. Luckily I had a strong confident friend who persuaded me with her
logical evidence, which I agreed with 100%
13th Today we looked at compare and contrast. I was a bit afraid to put my hand up, because I
have to be really precise. Hopefully Ill be able to take risks more often
17th It was nice going back to the Organisation of Dots Page 9 was a bit challenging and I am
proud of myself that IO finished the whole page. It was a relief that the strategy I used
worked through the whole page.
24th The Ravens Test part E was really making my brain think hard. Unlike last time I went at
my own pace and did not rush. It was really hard to find relationships in some of the
questions and I also had to do a lot of visual transport.
Grace
20th The last page was really complex because you had to look carefully at the tiles because
the background was the key to the answer. I love how challenging it is. Thank you.
23rd I was impulsive, because instead of actually thinking of a plan before doing the page, I
just went through it.

28th My main strategy was to find the triangular cone first, and as soon as I found that I found
the bridge then the diamond. I really wanted to finish the test, but the time was a bother.
Thank you.
29th Today I learnt that the definitions of new vocabulary such as Gestalt, logical evidence,
transcendence, and word association. I also learnt that when its a test, and the word go!
comes I will stop, think and plan, in order to succeed. Thank you.
3rd I think Analytic Perception means looking at the small analysis to make a perception
(what you think a picture might be) Thank you
5th Todays lesson was very enjoyable because we completed the 2nd page of Analytic
Perception. It looked very challenging, but as I moved on I got the hang of it. I also liked the
Variations page we did. Thank you
6th I really enjoyed todays lesson because we completed challenges such as, the 6th page of
Analytic Perception and another Variations. During the Variations I could see that Jeremy
had a different answer to mine so I persuaded him and my group, using logical evidence and
terms like eliminated and infer, in the end everyone in my group agreed with me. Thank you.
12th I likes todays lesson because the work we did made my brain think. I really, really love
the videos we watched! It made me wonder very intelligent the designer of the Fibonacci
was! Its so complex, yet beautiful and mind blowing and amazing!!
13th Today I learned how to compare using structural analysis. As soon as I saw the word
comparison I transcended to our writing work. Identifying comparisons I think Mrs McIntyre
is relating everything we learn at school into our Feuerstein, and I want to thank you because
it really helps us maintain what weve learnt.
17th Todays dots was a bit hard, I think because its been a long time since I have done it.
Thank you.
20th In transcendence to our new word, visual transport, one day at specialisation, in Bio
Food, we had to go to another class and learn about the popcorn kernel, and then go back to
class and draw a diagram of the inside of the popcorn kernel, as we were walking back to
class everyone in my class started saying visual transport, visual transport Thank you
21st Today I was so impulsive, I chose an answer straight away but when I looked carefully at
it, it was wrong. Next time I will remember to analyse carefully before being impulsive and
getting the answer wrong. Thank you.
24th While I did the Organisation of Dots, page 10,I realised that when the dots are spread out
more the complexity isnt that high, but as soon as the dots are close together the complexity
increases as well as my thinking. I have completed page 10, however the next challenge is the
fishes I can tell by the facials of the people already on to it that it is very complex. But right
now I am going to Just a momentLet me think. Thank you.
27th The Comparisons book is really challenging and I love challenges. I also like how every
page is different and makes me think more.
Jeremy

28th the Dots page 7 was much easier than the last time, I found Longitude and Latitude less
easy but still manageable
29th Today we learnt about Gestalt, it is like when you explain where something is (I think) I
also learnt about Ivans game. That was interesting
3th Analytic Perception. I think its when you break something down and look at the big
picture.
5th Today I learnt that superordinates are basically just the names of categorising things into
groups
6th I learnt that the 1,1,2,3,5,8,13 sequence is called the Fibonacci Sequence. I notice it is also
in the Pascals Triangle
13th Today I learnt about a new strategy for Variations about this minus this equals this I
didnt learn that yesterday because I was at Badminton. Structural Analysis is when you
break something down.
17th Today I did well with both the dots and the Variations because I got both right. I am
happy with that I hope I do better than I did last time in the Ravens Test.
20th Today I was fascinated by the after light activity. At the start of the activity, I let
impulsivity get the better of me and I kind of started early.
24th I did Dots 10 and 11 today. 11 had 2 fish and a barge that you had to form. It was kind of
strange because the fish went inside each other, the little fish eyes helped but the page was
still virtually impossible. Page 10 was also hard but not nearly as much.
27th We started Comparisons today which was fun and interesting. It has a surprising amount
of complexity for comparing but I enjoyed the challenge.
Stefarhn
27th Today I enjoyed that we did the dot page that we have done our first session
29th

Today I have learnt some new words like Gestalt and logical evidence.

3rd I think Analytic Perception is the way you break something down and see it at something else
5th

I enjoyed todays lessons we learnt new words and we did some patterns

6th I enjoyed this session a lot, I really want this programme to continue forever
13th During this lesson I have learnt lots of new strategies and we did some Variations I
enjoyed it a lot
17thTodays lesson was great doing Dots again
21st Todays lesson was amazing we put a red/orange square paper on top of a blank paper
and we looked at the blank paper and I saw blue. And I wished that this programme could last
forever.
24th Wow the Ravens test was amazing, and I think that the Ravens Test was a lot easier than
the last one. I cant wait to do it again.

25th I am learning how to change my visualisation and the way I am seeing stuff. And the
way I am thinking.
27th Today is interesting doing a new booklet we were using more words than usual.
Zaynah
28th Today we learnt about different Coordinates from different countries, we found out how
to them. We also had a Dot Test. I could not finish the paper because it was very
complicated.
29th Today we learnt about transcendence and what it really means (simplified) We also
learnt cool games similar to Charades but its all verbal
3rd Nov Today we learnt about Analytic Perception, I think this means when you break a
picture apart to bring out the answer. We used Jigsaw pieces as an example because jigsaw
puzzles have the picture on the cover.
5th Today we did another Variations Test. I can nearly master how to figure them out. I used
strategies such as visual transport and I also synthesised.
12th Today we learnt about Fibonacci numbers they are 1,1,3,5,8,13,21,34,55 Fibonacci
numbers are in everything. I found it complicated but I understand it now
13th Today we compared 2 pieces of art that were different. Comparing involves the
similarities and the differences
21st In the lesson today I managed to do the Variations
24th Today I did the Ravens Test. I found it easier to understand as we had practised with
Variations. The first 4 questions of each set informs you. I had lots of fun!
24th I am learning a lot of things with Mrs McIntyre that really connect with the concepts of
the brain. I have learnt about visual perception, Impulsivity and many other things. She has
taught us how to figure out questions or problems in simple ways.
I personally think that this project is helping my learning. Mrs McIntyre has taught us the
possibilities when you see things, I think those possibilities can be used anywhere, especially
in my learning.
I feel I am progressing since I can answer more questions and I understand more things.
