Desmond, Matthew, and Mustafa Emirbayer. "What Is Racial Domination?" DuBois Review:
Social Science Research on Race 6.02 (2009): 335. 2 June 2009. Web.27 Oct. 2014.
In this article they give us insight on what racial domination is and racial classification.
Race is the symbolic category based on your skin color, where you are from, and your
ancestors. There are two types of racial domination, interpersonal racism and institutional
racism. Institutional racism is the white domination over people of color in cooperations, legal
systems, universities, and other social collectives. Institutional racism prevents people of color
from benefiting from the same privileges and opportunities that their white counterparts get.
This article is very informative and will be a key source for my project. The main
information I will take from this source is the information on institutional racism. This information
would be very important for figuring out why their is bias and favoritism in the workplace since
my report is about racism in the workplace.
This indeed is a credible source. Matthew Desmond (one of the authors) is an assistant
professor for sociology and received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

MEEBOC, n.d. Web. 27 Oct. 2014.
This article tells you what Affirmative Action is, legal cases involving Affirmative Action,
and how it has helped people in the workplace and get into schools. Affirmative Action is an
important program that provides a fair chance for all qualified people to have the same chance
for landing a job or being accepted into a school. It is aimed and leveling the playing field and
preventing discrimination for being the reason someone doesnt get a job or accepted into a
school despite having all the qualifications needed.
This is another very informative article and will mostly likely be the second most
important source used in this project. Affirmative Action is a big way to fight the discrimination in
the workplace. Could this be the possible way to end the race bias in the workplace?
This is another credible source. Article is made by The Leadership Conference on Civil
and Human Rights. I went to their website www.freechance.org to do more research on them.
They have been around since 1950 and have over 200 national orginizations.

Triggs, Gillian. "Racism in the Workplace. It Stops with You." Working Life. N.p.,11 June 2013.
Web. 27 Oct. 2014
This article is about what you can do if you see racism in the workplace. In this article it
states that sometimes race discrimination is done in less obvious was and that people with
chinese and middle eastern names have to submit 50% more applications to get the same
number job responses as Anglo-Australian. When you see racism in the workplace you can

write a report to your supervisor and due to the Racial Discrimination Act:1975 you cant be
discriminated in the workplace due to race, color, ethnicity, and immigration status. This article
is actually based in Australia.
This article isnt as informative as my first two sources but it still provides some important
information. This information is relates to the Affirmative Action source since they both are about
fighting discrimination in the workplace, but they are fighting to end it in different countries..
Even though this article isnt super informative its exactly what I wanted since my first two
sources provided me with plenty of information for my topic. Its also interesting to see how
racism is affecting workplaces in other parts of the world.
This is a credible source. It was written by the president of the Australian Human Rights
commision.

"Bias in the Workplace." American Library Association. N.p., n.d. Web. 03 Dec. 2014.
This article talks about three categories of bias in the workplace and gives steps on how
to change your bias. The three categories are the bad, the ugly, and the unacknowledged.
There are six steps to changing your bias. You have to reflect, confront, engage, commit,
maintain, and discuss. There will be differences in the workplace and actling like there arent
any is a bad idea. Just know not to make assumptions about their personalities based on their
race or ethnicity.
There wasnt too much that I wanted to take away from this source besides the steps on
how to change your bias. This seemed like useful information to use in my paper about how you
can get rid of some of the negative biases people may have.
This is a credible source. It is from American Library Association. They are the oldest
and largest librarian organization providing information, news, events and resources.

"The Human Condition." Biases []. N.p., n.d. Web. 03 Dec. 2014
This article talks about and defines bias. Bias refers to our noticing of other peoples
behaviors. Being biased means that you act in a particular way. This means that bias doesnt
have to used in a negative way, people can have a positive bias.
This source was lacking some information that isnt necessary, but it would have been
useful. The information is on more types of biases that could relate to why people are bias in the
workplace.
This is my least credible source. There werent many clues for the credibility of the
source. This source will most likely get replaced by another.
