Lesson Title: How to make a Chocolate Chip Cookie


Materials/Resources Needed:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTL TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

Everyone has attempted to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie; not to crispy, not to big, trying
To make it just right. Using the ingredients as before: flour, sugar, butter, etc. this time we are

To learn how to master the art of cookie making.

Six-Point Lesson Plan


Teacher
Input

To begin, the teacher will preheat oven to 375.


1. First demonstrate by taking the desired amount of flour, baking soda and salt to mix in a small
bowl.
2. Then beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until
creamy.
3. Eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture.
4. Stir in morsels.
5. Take dough and measure a tablespoon to roll out onto an ungreased baking sheet.
6. Allow cookies to bake for 9-11 minutes and cool.

Guided
Practice

In a group of four, have students make the dough together. While the teacher is observing and
monitoring groups, the teacher will assist each group with certain tasks when needed

Independent
Practice

Students will write and illustrate a story about what they learned and how they can make a cookie.

Closure

Wrap up lesson with an overview of what they did and eat cookie.
