Name: Brooke Atwood

Student Grade Level: Third Grade

After giving the Primary Spelling Inventory to my third grade, eight year old, student from a school in Rockingham County, I was able to see the stage
he is in for spelling. He was able to spell eight words correctly out of the twenty- six given. He had only missed one or two in each column until he
came to the blends category and then he began to miss more and more in each section. According to this information, my student, Peter, is middle to
late letter name- alphabetic speller. He was able to correctly include the consonants in the beginning and the end, short vowels, and digraphs of most
of the words, but then when he started with to spell with blends, common long vowels, other vowels, and inflected endings, he began to experience
difficulty. During the assessment, he sat across from me and either looked at the paper while writing or looking at me when I was giving him the word
to spell. The overall spelling assessment took roughly ten minutes and was completed during literacy time in the classroom. He is using but confusing
the vowel e for I.
