Summary: The purpose of this instructional PowerPoint is
to have students diffrentiate , recognize and understand the
central message in fables, folktales, and myths.
Content Standard: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.3.2 - Recount
stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse
cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral
and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the
text.
Accomplishment: Students be able to see real world
applications when reading mythical literature.

What is a myth?
A myth is a story that usually
explains something about the
world and involves gods and other
superhuman beings.

What is a Folk Tale?


A folk tale is a story
with no known
author. Folk tales are
passed down from
one generation to
another by word of
mouth.

What is a fable?
A fable is a very brief
story in prose or in
verse that teaches a

succeed in life.

What is a fairy tale?


A fairy tale is a type
of imaginative writing
that carries the reader

Summary
Mythical literature is education, explanation, and
entertainment. It gives us an insight to culture. It
shows us how people explained nature before science was
able to explain it. It also gives us insights into the
psychology and sociology of the past.
