Write down each childs verbal response to What does a candle smell like?
Have a tally sheet of how many times the basket is missed, versus how many times it gets made. *Teachers to help tally.

shot, putting on a bandage, removing a splinter)

While playing outside, Taegan and Evan were talking about what happens at the doctors. Taegan
asked Evan if there were animal doctors. Evan shrugged and said maybe. I wanted to introduce the
idea of veterinarians based on this conversation.
The Pandas classroom has been working with animals, mostly farms animals. When the class was
asked to make the noise of their favorite animal, most oinked. I thought that painting with the pigs
would incorporate a new element to painting while reinforcing concepts of pigs on the farm.

Set up dramatic play area so that only stuffed animals are available to play with. (Turn stove and
other storage around.) Set out doctors stuff.
Use small table. Set out 4 pieces of paper. Place a small amount of brown paint on a piece of
paper. Place 4 (or more) plastic pigs in the center of the table. Allow children to paint with the
pigs.
Set out basket of balls and empty basket in rug area. Encourage children to throw balls into
empty basket.
Use small table. Set out scales. Place small amount of blocks next to the scales. 2 scales total,
small activity. Remove all chairs from this table.
Make sure that table and easel are moved away from white board to provide ample space. Set
out dry erase markers. Tape inspirational pictures above dry erase board. *encourage children to
practice writing/drawing the numbers.
Use small table. Set out multiple candles. (Remove lids if necessary) Allow children to smell each
candle. *Ask children what they believe the candle smells like. Use prompting questions like,
have you smelled this before?
Use water table. Fill with water. Place plastic animals in the table. *Note: this is not a specific
activity, if the teachers have other materials in the sensory table on this day, use what they
have.*
At 10:10 announce that it is time to clean up. Start singing the clean up song. Go from activity
to activity, helping to pick up area as well as encouraging the kids to help clean up. Line up at
the door to go outside. When going outside, grab tunnels and balls. Set up pop up tunnels, get
chalk down for the kids. While outside, go in and pick up any materials that need to be cleaned
up still. Gather personal materials.
