Crossfit

What is the sport of Crossfit? Crossfit has grown tremendously over the years not just in
the United States but across the world. Crossfit can change not just peoples body, but the way
people feel about yourself. Once any one starts going to a box ( Crossfit gym) they get hooked
to making Prs ( Personal goals) while crushing your personal goals. Any age range of people
can do crossfit from 8 to 77 years old. Crossfit is a family of people who love to crossfit
together. Many people ask what do you do in crossfit, and what are the crossfit games?
In crossfit the workouts you do every day are called Wods. Wods are posted every day
in your box or online. CrossFit workouts mix lifting weights such as kettlebells, with pull-ups
and cardio - with the aim of doing as many rounds of reps as possible (Mercury 20). A normal
workout of the day would consist of 150 meter row, 25 kettlebell swings, and 15 pull ups
repeated for a number of rounds. Before completing any workouts everyone must warm up to get
their body active and roll their body out. Eric Robertson says, The intensity of workouts and a
culture that encourages participants to push themselves to their limits has earned CrossFit a
reputation for extremism ( Mercury 20). The box is just one place where Wods can be done.
The Crossfit games are one of the most anticipated time of the year!
Who is the fittest on earth people may ask? Well, the crossfit games will show who is the
fittest man and women on earth. The crossfit games started in 2007 when only a group on 70
athletes competed on a small ranch in Northern California ( Crossfit Games History). Compared
to the 2014 crossfit games which had over 25,000 people in attendance at the StubHub Center in
Carson, Calif (Crossfit Games History). The games have evolved, and are only getting bigger.

Athletes train all year round to compete in regional competition all across the world. If they
place in the top three in regionals then they make it to the games. For the past four years at the
games Rich Froning has won the title as the fittest man in the world (Crossfit Games History).
Crossfit is more than just athletes competing for themselves; they cheer on everyone from the
first on the finishes to the last.
Crossfit is a culture with people from any race or age that love to do the same
sport together. At boxs ( gym ) people push themselves to new heights that they never knew
they had in them (Aschwanden). An athlete was on her last two reps of a timed wod. Falling on
her first try undeterred she fights through and completes the wod. Even though she finished last
her determination made her the star ( Aschwanden). Once crossfitters see the results of hard
work at the box they get hooked on the of culture of it. Doing crossfit can help people in there
everyday life from picking up furniture to there everyday job. As J. C. Herz says in the article,
What makes CrossFit appealing to members and confusing to outsiders is that it's more than a
workout -- it's a cultural identity ( Aschwanden ). The sport of crossfit is a way of life.
Crossfit is more than just any type of sport. It is a sport that is more of a net group
of people who love to be fit. Wods that make people want to just give up, break down, and quit
but they know that your body can take that last rep that last round. Once that workout is over
they know that they can feel good about yourself knowing you finished with everything you had
left. Crossfit may not be popular than the NFL but one day the sport will crush all other sports.
Your box is like your second home. People are proud to say, Yes I crossfit and I love doing it.
That dream of going to the crossfit games or that goal that you set at the beginning of the year
gets crushed you are hooked to make your new goals, and tear them down.
