Unit/Theme Importance of economy system


Standards:

Content Objectives:
*Students will be able explain how global economies impact other countries.
*Students will be able to compare the economy system of two countries

*Students will summarize information using a Venn diagram.
*Students will write a paragraph comparing and contracting two countries.

Motivation: Students will watch a video clip about poverty in India and the economy; and
a video clip about US economy. (Around 7 minutes each video clip)
Presentation:
*Student will read content objectives and language objectives
* Teacher explains content objectives and language objectives.
* Teacher asks some questions about content objectives and explains more in details the
language objectives.

*Explain what they are going to be doing in groups.


*The materials they are going to be using.
*Teacher present vocabulary words.

Practice and Application:


*Teacher divides the class in three groups. Each group will have four students.
*Teacher will use jigsaw strategy. Student will be assigned a number. Number one will have
vocabulary words: demand and supply. Number two will have tariff and scarcity. Number three
will have: global economy and quota. Number four will have economy system, exporting, and
importing.
*Students will need to define the vocabulary words, draw a picture of the vocabulary word, and
write a sentence.
*Students return to the group, and share all the vocabulary words. Teacher circulates around the
classroom providing clarification and feedback to students.
*After vocabulary word activity students will work in groups again, they will read an article
about US and about another one about Indian economy.
*Students will develop a Venn diagram using chart paper.
*Teacher assigns a number. Number one will do US differences. Number two will do
similarities between both countries. Number three will do Indian differences.
*Students return to their groups and write a paragraph about difference similarities of both
countries. Students present to the class their information.
Review/Assessment:
* Teacher review content objectives, vocabulary words
*Oral assessment: (whole class) Teacher asks individual questions.
Extension:
Student will assigned to do a research on the economy system of a country.
