9:15-9:25 Quiet Reading/Puzzle Time

o Read: My Five Senses by Aliki (big book)
9:35-9:55 Art Activity
o Scented Painting (http://www.notimeforflashcards.com/2010/02/scented-painting-5senses-activity.html)
Different colors of paint
Different imitation flavors (for smell)
Paint brushes
Paper to paint on
9:55-10:05 Worksheets
o Sense of Smell worksheets
o Sense of taste worksheets
10:05-10:25 Exploring Sense of Touch
o Use the canister/hidden object thing
o Place different shapes in there for the students to touch and try to guess
o Have different items other than shapes to put in to make it more difficult
Ex. Easter egg, shape of bone, ring, etc.
o Let the students stand up and guess individually.
o Let every student do this
10:25-10:35 Free Play
10:35-10:45 Get ready for recess
10:45-11:10 Recess
11:10-11:15 Pack book-bag and head home

Tuesday, 2/25: (Sense of Touch)

8:00-8:45 Free/Play Time

9:15-9:25 Quiet Reading/Puzzle Time
9:25-9:35 Story Time
o Read: Senses Are for Everything by Katherine Hengel
o Read: The Nose Book By Al Perkins
9:35-10:00 Art Activity
o Make Flubber (http://www.livecrafteat.com/craft/homemade-flubber-for-kids/)
cup cold water

1 cup Elmers Glue


Liquid food coloring
cup hot water
1 teaspoon borax
Zip-lock bag to take Flubber home
10:00-10:15 Science Experiment
o Soap in the microwave
bar of ivory soap goes in the microwave for 3 minutes
10:15-10:35 Touch Activity
o Feel the different balloons that are filled with different items
Filled with items such as water, flour, sugar, beans, popcorn seeds, beads, and
rice.
Only a couple students at the table at a time doing this. When not at the table,
they have free play time.
o Different sense of touch worksheets for if the students have extra time.
10:35-10:45 Get ready for recess
10:45-11:10 Recess
11:10-11:15 Pack book-bag and go home

Wednesday, 2/26: (Sense of Sound)

8:00-8:45 Free/Play Time


8:45-9:00 Morning Meeting/Calendar Time

9:15-9:25 Quiet Reading/Puzzle Time
9:25-9:35 Story Time
o Read: Five for a little one By Chris Raschka
9:35-9:45 Art Activity
o Noise Makers
Water bottle for each student
Dried beans, rice, seeds, popcorn kernels, beads, etc.
Electrical tape to secure
9:45-10:00 Sense of Sound activities
o What is that sound?
Listen to sounds played off the computer and guess what they are.
o Ask the students to make the sounds of different animals.
10:00-10:15 Free Play
10:15-10:30 Bean Bag Body Game
o Call out a body part and have students place bean bag on that body part
Examples: head, leg, arm, hand, foot, wrist, elbow, etc.
o Play music and have students walk in circle while balancing their bean bag.
o When the music stops, they stop.

Thursday, 2/27: (Sense of Sight and Taste)

o Read: Senses in the City By Shelly Rotner
o Read: Senses at the Seashore By Shelly Rotner

o Sensory Bear (Bear that includes all five senses on it)
Red construction paper
Brown construction paper with stencils on them
2 googley eyes for each student (16 in all)
2 bells for each student (16 in all)
1 cotton ball for each student (8 in all)
2 pieces of sand paper for each student (16 in all)
piece of gum for each student (8 in all)
10:00-10:15 Free play time
10:15-10:35 Exploration of Sense of Sight
o Make binoculars with construction paper and toilet paper rolls
o Use them to look around the classroom
o Point out different colors, shapes, and other things that the students can see
10:35-10:45 Get ready for recess
10:45-11:10 Recess
11:10-11:15 Pack book-bag and head home
