Summary
Initially entering college as a speech pathology major, I fell in love with working with individuals with disabilities. So much so that after a
life-changing summer working at a camp called Stepping Stones I knew that I wanted to work with this population for the rest of my life.
Stepping Stones is a non-profit United Way partner aiming to give individuals with disabilities more opportunities to participate in
various interactive programs throughout the year. I have since then returned to the same summer camp for a second summer and have
been studying special education at Miami University.
Experience
Program Supervisor at Stepping Stones
As the program supervisor, I was responsible for guiding the specialists to make appropriate and engaging lesson plans. I also created
lesson plans for camp-wide activities each week while organizing supplies, made sure everyone received the supplies that they needed for
their activities, and observed how lesson plans were carried out. I also evaluated my staff in the middle of the summer and had weekly
meetings with them to see how their activities were being carried out.
As the fun and learning specialist, I was in charge of keeping the campers up on their school skills in a fun and engaging way with around
180 campers ages 5-22 who have a variety of skill sets. I created lesson plans for each of the groups and led the lessons for around 40-45
minutes per group each day. There were 18 groups and I saw around 5-6 groups each day.
Gaining knowledge on Pandora's products and selling to customers. Designing bracelets and pairing with earrings, necklaces, and rings.
