News articles What features/rules do these two have in common? They both inform the public about issues occurring. Their purpose is to inform, their content is based off of the current knowledge. They are both written semi formally. Format and organization is based off of articles. Now, think about how these two are different? What is the purpose or content of each? The purpose of ny times is to inform people of the current news happening around the world in all fields. While people focuses primarily on celebrity news and their actions. Who is target audience? What does genre assume or expect about its audience? How do you know? The general public, the nytimes is probably targeted more towards adults. People is targeted more towards, females and teenagers. They assume the people are interested in the articles they are publishing and that they have general background knowledge of what to expect from the sources and the types of things that will be said. I know because People goes more towards and op-ed side as there are a lot of opinion incorporation and rumour based information on people and the people regularly reading it will probably expect this. How is the information or message being conveyed differently? Be specific as to the techniques used. In people, it is more of a excited and overreaction type of message and nytimes it kind of blandly saying these are all the things going on and these are the facts about them.
