Task:

By means of an ultrasonic test system, the iron insert bonds and the position
of the cooling channel in the piston bottom are to be examined. Depending on
the test area, the through-transmission method and the pulse echo method
are used.

Apart from automatic mode, manual operation is possible, as well.

Additionally, a repeat function is available for test repetition in case of a
negative result.

The pistons enter the system by a transport belt and are separated by means
of a barrier. After the separation, the handling equipment feeds the parts into
the test station. There, the piston is held between a drive unit with two wheels
and a counter-acting roller. For the test, the station is tilted into the coupling
medium. During the test, the sensor-monitored drive provides for a complete
rotation of the piston, so that every probe scans the complete circumference.
After termination, the part is lifted out of the coupling medium and set onto
the drainboard by the grip handling. At this point, NOK parts are brought into
a separate deposit area by means of a diagonal pusher. With OK parts, the
piston bowl is blown out at the drainboard station. Finally, a swivel unit puts
