a) Identify and explain two functions of HRM which are highlighted in

the case under study.
Answer: The first and important function performed by HRM of lulu is
the work LULU ALLP which stands for LULU management training
programme. LULU is selecting about 10 students from leading
institutions every year for training programme. For selecting the trainees,
LULU runs competitions in more than 35 colleges across the sultanate of
Oman. And the second important step taken by the HRM of LULU is
that these trainees start with an orientation programme addressed by the
chairman.
b) LULU ALLP trainees start with an orientation programme. Explain
the meaning of orientation. State its importance at the beginning of a
training programme.
Answer: Student orientation or new student orientation is a period of
time at the beginning of the academic year at a university or
other tertiary institution during which a variety of events are held to
orient and welcome new students. The name of the period varies by
country. The New Student Orientation program helps new students and
their guests in the transition to the Brighton Campus of Monroe
Community College.

c) Discuss two other methods by which you would recruit trainees for the
company if you were Human Resource Manager of LULU.
Answer: One of the most important functions of human resource
management (HRM) is the function of recruitment. Recruitment is the
process in which the firm tries to find the best possible potential
employees and to get them to apply for work with the firm. If I am the
manager of Human Resource Management department of LULU I will go
to the leading management schools and then runs competitions within
those schools to find the best of the best. The department could also reach
out to foreign universities. It could look for the students with the best
grades in these foreign universities management programs.
