I have been asked to write a letter of recommendation in support of Ms. Jenna Shores. I
understand that she is participating in an interview exercise as part of her mentorship program
through Hilliard Darby High School. I supervised Ms. Shores for a 3 month period of time (SeptNov 2014) while she was an extern with City Attorney Richard C. Pfeiffer Jr.s Office,
Prosecutor Division.
During this time, Ms. Shores was exposed to the many facets of the Prosecutors Office and the
Franklin County Municipal Court. She shadowed law clerks in traffic arraignment court as well
as Domestic Violence advocates assisting victims and spent time observing in both criminal
arraignment courts 4C and 4D. Moreover, Ms. Shores got to spend time with specialized
Domestic Violence and Environmental Court prosecutors as well as trial staff prosecutors.
As related to the Prosecution Resources Unit Intake Section, Ms. Shores had an opportunity to
spend many hours observing skilled Intake Officers and gain a better understanding of the intake
process. She learned about several computer databases that provide valuable information to staff
and observed Intake Officers conduct formal investigative interviews to gather evidence. She
learned terminology specific to our operations and became familiar with our paperwork and
protocol.
During her externship, Ms. Shores was always energetic and engaged. She paid careful attention
throughout her differing assignments and asked thoughtful and appropriate questions related to
what she was observing. Ms. Shores demonstrated a good work ethic and was respectful towards
all staff. Even though she is younger and does not have a wealth of life/work experience, I still
believe she is a focused and driven person who strives to succeed.
