and construct a lab
report. The students will
investigate a topic of
their choice, as long as
it can be tested and
followed through. They
will follow the steps of
the scientific method.

Students will complete

a mini lab. The students
will follow the scientific
method and test their
question within a class
period. They will be
given a set of materials
to use and they can
form their own
experiment from these
materials.

By the end of the

lesson, students will be
able to identify a

They will have a
summative test in the
form of multiple choice
questions talking about
the various phases,
genetic material, and
contributions to future
generations.

Students will participate

in candy mitosis and
meiosis. This lab will
walk the students
through both processes
and how they are
different from each
other. They will be able
to see the difference
between inherited
genetic traits and how
new cells are produced
and divided during both
parts of cell division.

By the end of this

lesson, students will be
able to compare and
contrast cell division,
mitosis and meiosis.
They will understand
the major differences
between the two
processes, as well as
how these processes

of new cells and the
passing of genetic
information from parent
to daughter cell.

B4.1e Determine the

genotype and
phenotype of
monohybrid crosses
using a Punnett Square.

Test Questions.
Students will be asked
to examine a series of
questions regarding the
ratios of phenotypes
and genotypes given
the dominant and
recessive alleles of the
individuals. Students
will be able to identify
the genotype and
phenotype of these
crosses.

Students will complete

a series of homework
problems and questions
which they will explore
the answers through
trial and error after
thorough note taking
and readings. Students
will explore their own
traits through potential
research they conduct
through investigation
with help from their
parents. Students will
work backward and
forward to discover
potential genotypes and
phenotypes of potential
offspring.

By the end of this

lesson, students will be
able to use a Punnet
square to determine the

human activities.

Students will write a

paper on a topic of their
choice and how human
interaction is impacting
a certain global topic.
Students will use a
minimum of three digital
resources in order to
backup their sources.
Students will present
their findings and their
potential solutions to
the class using a source
of digital media and
technology.

Students will conduct

their own research
based on what they are
interested in. They will
form research groups to
check in with
periodically and report
their findings. This will
be part of their grade.
Students will be
responsible for their
own research and
presentation. They will

B2.5h Explain the role

of cell membranes as a
highly selective barrier
(diffusion, osmosis, and
active transport).

Test Questions/online
modules. Students will
perform an online
module comparing and
contrasting diffusion,
osmosis, and active
transport and will call it
a lab. The teacher will
be monitoring their
progress and the
students will fill out a
lab worksheet as they
complete the lab. Ideas
will then be reinforced
on a summative
assessment.

Online modules will

demonstrate each of
these three processes.
Students will take notes
on the topic as well.
Students could
potentially complete a
lab on this material,
testing the solubility and
other selective barriers
between certain
solutions. They could
also complete a lab to
measure the time it
takes in order for
certain solutions to pass
through certain barriers.
This standard will be
explained through a
wide variety of modules
and lessons.

Students will be able to

complete an online
module regarding cell
membranes and the
