1. Matthew West Family Tree
In this song it talks about how we can create our own legacy and that yesterday does not have to define
who we are. This song relates to chapter 4 under the paragraph How do we manage impressions in
Daily Life. Our roles are socially defined. There are expectations around every corner of who and what
we are expected to become. In this song it teaches us that we make up our own legacy of who we want
to be, and even yesterday cannot define who we want to become today.

2. Danille Padilla Grow Old With You
This song is so cute. It talks about everything he will do for her while they grow old together. I was
listening to this song while I read the chapter 3 paragraph about How do people age. This song fits it
perfectly. Growing old comes in stages. There are definite markers that show us we are getting older,
such as our mental capabilities, our role expectations, and our physical body is slower and health
problems arise. Our bodies will age and change yet we will still be the same inside. This song shows that
the changes will happen but life will be better going through it with someone you care about.

3. The OJays Rich Get Richer
This song works perfect with chapter 8 Growing Global inequality, in this chapter it talks about how
the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It talks about how the rich have higher incomes, this gives
them more money to invest, and how it can take the poor generations to get out of poverty. This song
explains to us that you have to have money to get a head.

4. Hannah Jones I Am What I Am
In this song she sings about how it does not matter what she is, she is who she is. She does not care
what others think of her, she like who she is. This song reminds me of Chapter 9 and the paragraph that
talks about Gender Socialization & Gender Identity. I learned in this chapter that it does not matter if
we are girls or boys we are all human and we need to like who we are.

5. South Park Sexual Harassment Panda (YouTube)
This song made me laugh and I had to include it onto my mix tapes. Out of all the shows to talk about
sexual harassment .South Park? This song relates to chapter 9, and the Sexual Harassment in the
Work Place. Sexual harassment is something that millions of people deal with each year. I believe that
in this song, how they brought in a panda to sing about sexual harassment is quite funny. Although,
maybe that is where is should start, with our young kids, teens, and even adults. The more we are
educated about sexual harassment the more people are able to speak up and defend their rights.

6. Michael Jackson Black or White
It does not matter if you are black or white. This song is such a great song. It came about at a really good
time, in which a new decade is facing racism and equal rights no matter our skin color. This is something
that we are still working on even in our day. I chose this song to go with chapter 10 The rise of racism.
I love the message it puts forward, I find it ironic that it was written by Michael Jackson who born black,
yet bleached his skin to make it whiter. It goes to show us that this was something that even he was
trying to tell himself, that it does not matter if he is black or white.

7. Hillary Weeks Laundry Theme Song (Remake)

I went to a fireside where she sang this song. I found it so perfect for the housework especially laundry
that us mothers have to do each week. I chose this song to go along with Chapter 9 House work
section. I am excited for the changes that are coming. Where it is not only the job of the wife and
mother to clean up, fix dinner, and help with the children. Our day is changing! The change in status of
the roles of mothers and fathers in the home will provide much needed help around the house. I believe
that the faster you can get the jobs done as a family, the more opportunity we have to goof around and
play together.

8. Jewel Stronger Women
I like this song, it talks about being a strong women. Loving ourselves, and understanding that we can be
anything we want to be. I chose this song because it goes perfect with the Section of Feminist
Approaches in chapter 9. We are getting to a time where we are concerned with a womens unequal
position in society. Feminists are there to help give those equal rights to the women. I am not
necessarily an active feminist; I love my role in the home as nurturer and homemaker. But, also believe
in being educated and finding time to myself to become what is best for me.

9. Odd One Sick Puppies
I chose this song to go along with chapter 11, Divorce and Separation
Divorce is something that everyone will have to go through at one time in their life or another. Each of
us has friends, family, or maybe even us personally will go through a divorce. The main thoughts of
divorce can be toward the children involved. Divorce can cause a large emotional decline during the first
part of a divorce, but with a good support system they can find their way out, and just like the song says
it will all be ok!

10. Green Day Nuclear Family
This song was chosen to go with chapter 3 The Family paragraph. Our nuclear family teaches us the
norms and what is expected we are to become. Most of the early socialization occurs within the first
couple of years. I like this song because it talks about how he rides the world like a merry go round that
keeps breaking down. It teaches us that we may have family expectations on what we are expected to
be like, but each of us are different and we each live our lives the way that best works for each of us.
This song shows us that we will always break people expectations of us, and we need to ride the merry-
go -round of life the way we need to ride it.
