APA Format
The first week of class I remember learning about APA format. I was thinking what's up
with all of these different types of formats we have to know with me being used to MLA. Mrs.
Priest teaching methods were so good, learned it easy. We went over everything from the cover
page, reference page, how to do the correct headers, font, font size and how to write in 3rd
person. Later that week in my psychology professor introduced the class to APA format. I was
the only one that knew anything about it. So I look like a genius it was a huge confidence
builder. The titles in APA is sentence capitalization for example The golden age of
neuroscience has arrived. You never use you unless it is a direct quote.
End-Text References.
Alphabetical. APA format references must be arranged in alphabetical order by the
surname of the first author.
Hanging indents. All APA citations should use hanging indents, that is, the first line of
an entry should be flush left and the second and subsequent lines should be indented 1/2.
In-Text Refererence. In-text citation is used when source material is quoted, paraphrased. Intext provide at least the authors last name and the year of publication.
like adding in my own words to quotes. I think of it as adding my signature to the quote. The
three spaced dots come in handy when you use an extremely long quote. Three dots in quotations
means that something has been taken out.
