Social media has been shown to negatively


impact individuals leading to bullying,
depression, and suicide which ultimately show
that social media does not address these
serious issues in a sincere manner.

During the past 5 years the number


of children and adolescents using
Facebook, Twitter, blogs, gaming
sites, and other social media
websites have increased drastically.

22% of teenagers log onto their


favorite social media site more than
10 times a day.

Exposed to inappropriate content,


lack of understanding online
privacy issues, outside influences,
and possibly even peer pressure.

Run the risk of online harassment,


cyber bullying, sexting, Facebook
depression, etc can ultimately
lead to depression.

Its Okay Campaign

Is a blog, and is on both


Twitter and Facebook.

Main purpose is to end the


stigma of depression mainly
within adolescents and to
show people its ok to talk
about depression.

The Campaign has been


shortlisted for the Mark
Hanson Mind media award,
The Christine Jackson Young
Person Award and won the
TalkTalk young digital hero
award 2012.
